"This homely, south facing, holiday apartment within a complex near the pier, is conveniently located for quick level walking access to the beach, harbour and town. It comprises a spacious bedroom with a double bed and single bunks, a lounge with dining furniture, a 3-seater sofa which opens up to sleep two, a kitchenette with oven, hob, microwave, fridge with ice box, toaster, shopping trolly, picnic backpack, iron and ironing board. Whilst furnished with a home-from-home feel, it has gentle reminders of being at the seaside so relax and enjoy.
"Heating is by way of dimplex electric units and an immersion for hot water. The modern bathroom has a fixed heater and an electric shower operates over the bath.
"The private patio/lawned garden, with shrubs and outdoor furniture, as well as buckets and spades, is idyllic for your own al-fresco catering or a haven for soaking up the sun. Also suitable for storing bicycles. Car parking for one vehicle, just yards away is secure.
"A splendid heated outdoor pool, set in landscaped gardens and shared by all guests, is so welcoming on either hot or cooler days from the 1st of May through to the last weekend of September.
"The apartment has two entrances, and is tastefully furnished to accommodate small families or couples but we cannot accept more than 4 adults at any one time, nor can we accept party bookings for hen or stag entertainment. Whilst we might be able to accommodate wheelchair users, there are two steps into the apartment from the patio and also a narrow entrance into the bathroom which does not allow for wheelchair access.
"Because of the splendid coastal location of this lovely holiday home, you are in close proximity to the town shopping centre, supermarkets, restaurants, parks, bus depot, railway and steam train station, rugby/cricket ground, theatre, cinema, launderette and an on-site bar with restaurant, namely the infamous Inn on the Green. Wifi is available in nearby places and computers can be used for a small hourly fee at the central library where you can also log on to your own phone without charge. Here is a traveler's review of her nostalgic visit to the vicinity:
"Have you ever longed for the bygone age of British seaside holidays? Ever yearned for genuinely friendly people, fair prices, family fun and delicious, no-nonsense British fare? Well, I've found just the place ... Paignton. I arrived by train at the station, bang in the middle of town. Just a three minute walk down took me to the sea front - and what a sea front - an endless vista of blue, punctuated by fishing boats, sailboats, children happily splashing away and, in the distance, the majestic Thatcher Rock.
'Something for everyone' can be a cliche but in Paignton you'll find that it's true. Young couples stroll past elderly folk having an ice cream. Kiddies splash and giggle while parents bask in the sun.
"I took the choo choo train along the coast down to Kingswear. It set off with a huge plume of steam puffing into the air. Little boys and dads went misty eyed. After passing through a couple of tunnels, I was met by a vast shimmering sea, along with snatches of secret rocky coves - a magical way to see Tor Bay. The views are breathtaking. At Kingswear you can take a tour on a paddle steamer or cross by ferry to Dartmouth.
"When it was time to leave Paignton, I felt a wistful yearning for traditional seaside holidays past. As I boarded the train home, I overheard a passenger tell his toddler that he'd holidayed there as a child. Did he, like me, yearn for days gone by - you know I think we all do. Catching a glimpse of the glittering sea and Paignton's pier, I realised there was no need to be wistful. Traditional British fun, a genuine warm welcome, and charm by the bucket load, is still alive and well on this Devon coast."
