Walk to amazing surf spots, relax in the rivers, and see toucans, kolibris, and much more from the hammock on the front porch.

We are an off-the-grid property in the heart of the Osa Peninsula, surrounded by pristine, solitary beaches, rivers, and lush jungle. Imagine waking up to the sounds of monkeys, macaws, and tumbling surf just outside your door. Go for a surf at famous, world-class surf spots that are within walking distance, or walk to a nearby waterfall and relax in her pool. Take hour-long beach walks or simply hang out in a hammock on your front porch, spotting monkey swings between trees, birds flying by, and many other beautiful creatures just making their way around your cabin. Then, at night, fall asleep to nothing more than the sounds of wildlife and waves.

Out here, there are no high-rises, no electrical lines cluttering the view of the ocean, no noisy discos (except for the Friday evening next door that hosts an artisanal market), and no crowds on the beaches... Often you have the entire beach just for you, even on weekends!

The private cabin is a modernized version of a simple cabin. Located in a quiet area on a secure, lush tropical property you are provided with a hardwood floor, two Queen beds with mosquito nets, 2 sofa beds, safes, a well-equipped kitchen, a private outdoor bathroom, fans, and multiple relaxation areas. There is also an option to keep checking some messages with the free WiFi (yes, in the jungle) is also available, although keep in mind that it is limited).

Everything in the cabin is made to make yourself comfortable within the jungle. Don't feel like cooking? There are various possibilities to order prepared meals by the hosts, food from the local farmers market, or go out for dinner at an internationally acclaimed restaurant and bar! You'll be provided with all you need and more by simply being here

Besides, beautiful day excursions to Corcovado National Preserve, guided nature hikes, surf trips, birding, diving, sailing, and even whale-watching, the hosts can tell you all about the hidden gems of the area.

Shanti Wasi, translated as the house of peace, is really the place to get away from the business, and enjoy the beauty of nature and its ability to regenerate your energy! We are looking forward to receiving you!

In addition to your fully equipped jungle cabin, you are invited to use the internet in our Casa Grande, read one of the inspiring books of our extensive library, or be provided with information about your surroundings

You are very welcome to sit in the main garden to watch the stars without the nuisance of light pollution or lounge during the day while being entertained by the extensive wildlife that flows through the yard.

if you have a physical exercise practice (yoga, tai chi, dance, etc) our guests are welcome to use our beautifully constructed “temple” space any time during your stay.

Other things to note

The Osa Peninsula is home to 2.5% of the Earth's biodiversity. It is one of the most biologically intense places on the planet according to National Geographic.

This means that you are surrounded by many different types of insects, reptiles, birds, mammals, and many other species. We have been co-living with them for years now, and are engaged in many projects around the Peninsula that support the regeneration of the biodiversity in this place. Therefore, when you book a place with us, you indirectly support all these projects in the Peninsula too!

But, this also means that if you are sensitive to bug bites, you really need to bring your own non-chemically/ecologically produced bug spray!

Why can't I call James / Tricia (the owner) before booking?

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send James / Tricia (the owner) a message.

If James / Tricia (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
