From the owner

Le Cerisier is part of an original farmhouse and barn built in the early 1800s in rolling French countryside. Set in 3.5 acres, there is a large garden with terrace, patio furniture and barbecue for you to enjoy. It is located midway between Bagnoles de l'Orne and Lassay-les-Chateaux, both about 8 miles away. Bagnoles is a well known French spa town famous for its waters and healing properties and there is an excellent selection of restaurants in the town. Lassay is known for its chateaux and also has a delightful rose garden. The picturesque medieval town of Domfront with its chateau and church of St. Julien is 17 miles away. Though all amenities are nearby, our location is very tranquil and you can feel the peace and quiet envelop you. The village of Madré is 2km from Le Cerisier and has a butcher's shop, post office and small bar. There are excellent restaurants in the villages nearby which serve fixed price lunches including cider and wine.

Le Cerisier sleeps seven people and is a light and spacious cottage with all the amenities that you will require for a comfortable holiday.

The front door opens into the open living room with dining area and separate kitchen located off the living room area.

The living room has comfortable seating, log burning stove, English satellite TV along with DVD. There are patio doors leading to the terrace with BBQ.

The dining area has large dining table, chairs and all required cutlery and crockery.

The well equipped kitchen includes gas cooker, separate fridge and freezer, coffee maker, electric kettle, microwave, toaster, iron and washing machine.

Stairs lead up to the landing from which there are:

Master bedroom with double bed, wardrobe, drawers etc. There is plenty of space for a cot if required (please enquire for details).

Two further twin bedrooms.

One single bedroom.

The bathroom is located off the landing and has WC, wash handbasin and shower.

Outside:

The garden outside the gites is just under an acre so there is plenty of room to spread yourselves out. Garden and patio furniture along with barbecues are available.

There are a further 2.5 acres beyond the garden which is given over to a playing field - ideal for energetic youngsters - and a newly planted orchard which we are developing. You are more than welcome to sample the apples, pears and plums when in season.

The swimming pool is around 1 metre deep and close to the terraces so you can keep an eye on your children while enjoying a glass of wine, cooking the barbecue or just relaxing.

Smoking is allowed outside only, not inside the building.

Fixed convector heaters are located in the bathrooms and bedrooms.

A cot is available if required and will be placed in the double bedroom though you will have to provide bedclothes for the cot.

The living room has comfortable chairs, settee and a satellite TV & DVD There is well equipped kitchen with cooker, microwave and fridge/freezer and washing machine. The double bedroom has ample cupboard space and a double bed . 2 bedrooms have two single beds in each the 4th bedroom has a single bed.

Linen,towels and bedding supplied There is a shower room with WC. The cottage has a wood burner in the lounge & electric heaters in the bedrooms for those Spring and Autumn breaks.

Thank you for your review. We are again/still saddened by your dissatisfaction. We have previously addressed all your complaints/concerns/feedback in response to your other public bad review, but as you are now raising additional issues, we will address each point again in turn. We are sorry that you did not feel the accommodation adequate for 7 adults. We have hosted such groups on numerous occasions without any issues. As an aside, your booking was actually made for 6 adults and 1 child. Had you informed us there would be 7 adults and 1 child at the time of booking, we would have rejected your request to book on the grounds that we only accept 7 people, regardless of age. As you correctly state, we did indeed visit the property to discuss the number of guests and were told by the latest arrival that one of the other guests was leaving anyway. This meant that apart from the one night, the property would be appropriately occupied. We were more than happy with this arrangement and left after having a little joke with this guest. With respect, the "simple negative review" on google was in reality a scathing attack on our business, our property and on us personally. Following our response to this review, I believe that you have since removed it. Posted mid-stay we feel that this was a very aggressive and bullying action. After reading this review, we suggested you leave with a full refund for the remaining nights as, based on the review, you were clearly not enjoying your stay. It was at this point that you became aggressive. The suggestion that we threatened to cut off water and electricity is, as you know, untrue - as is the suggestion that I at any point "mimed" anything or used the phrase "boo hoo". At no point were you "speechless" - quite the opposite in fact. As we were unable to have a reasonable and rational conversation with you, we immediately contacted Trip Advisor to intervene. We did indeed feel that your shouting and aggressive demeanour would affect our other guests. Due to the situation, Trip Advisor told you to leave the property (as i think you yourself imply in the subject line to this review) - you did not in fact leave of your own accord. I believe the journey from our property to your home should have taken around 3-4 hours. I am unsure why it took you around 10.5 hours. We are very sorry that you are not happy with the Government's latest requirements with regard to Covid 19, shared spaces and health passes. As soon as we became aware that we might have to check the health pass we contacted you so that you could make any necessary arrangements. This was a week before you were due to arrive. We provided you with official confirmation of the requirement as soon as we received it from our local authority. We strongly dispute your implied suggestion that we fabricated this requirement. We understand your frustration, but feel it is misplaced in being directed at us from the outset. As a business we are subject to large fines and potential imprisonment for not complying with the Government rules. This is not a risk we are prepared to take.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Michelle (the owner) a message.

If Michelle (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
