From the owner

Two bedroomed renovated first floor apartment situated in Ortigia, the centro historica of Siracusa. The apartment overlooks the Ionian Sea and has stunning sea views, especially when the sun rises. The apartment is accessed through double wrought iron gates which lock automatically, or through a single wrought iron gate on the Lungomare side. The inside courtyard has also been renovated with new flooring with integral lighting and switches on the inside for the automatic gates. The apartment is set out on one floor with the front door leading straight into the kitchen/dining area and the lounge and a small corridor on the left, leading to both bedrooms. There are two air conditioning units used for heating in the winter. The terrace overlooks the internal courtyard and is accessible through double patio doors direct from the kitchen or from the front door. Nearby are local shops, designer shops and the amazing daily fish market. The market also sells local cheeses, breads, olives, fruit and vegetables, no need to eat breakfast before as there are always samples on offer. It is situated in an ideal position for exploring Sicily with Mount Etna and Taormina to the North and beautiful beaches and archaeology sites to the South. Also nearby is Caltigirone for wonderful ceramics, Piazza Armerina the roman villa with amazing mozaic floors and both Noto and Ragusa. The rocks are just a short walk away where you can both swim and sunbathe. Ortigia is best explored on foot as each turn takes you through alleyways which open up to amazing sights. Beautiful little churches, bars, shops, patios in flower, baroque buildings and sleeping cats laying in the sun. There are so many wonderful historic sites in Ortigia, Archimedes Square, Aretusa, The Duomo and the nearby Catacombs and Papyrus museum.

I live in the UK and have owned my beautiful home in Ortigia since 2013. I have a very good friend whom I met there in 2014 and she looks after my guests, meets and greets, and gives them general information about the apartment and area. There is also a book in the apartment with all the information they would require. Lynette also looks after my guests as she can be contacted easily to assist if there are any issues or my guests need any help. Lynette's contact numbers are given out on booking my apartment and you can call and speak to her before your arrival.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Janice (the owner) a message.

If Janice (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
