A beautifully renovated old barn set in 3 hectares of farmland, with amazing views over the unspoilt, green and mountainous countryside of Garfagnana, Northern Tuscany. The property is split into 2 apartments (both included in the price), set side by side, so both have a ground floor, giving larger groups privacy from each other, whilst staying together on holiday. There is plenty of room to relax and dine together too!

In total there are 8 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms ,2 living kitchen/diners and plenty of space to all relax and eat together both inside and out. There is a beautiful loggia spanning the ground floor of the property providing a place to eat and relax in the shade overlooking the pool, and there is also a large covered terrace to the side of the house .

There is also a BBQ and wood oven for pizzas overlooking the pool area, and looking out to the mountains beyond.

The gated pool is enormous at 7M x 14M !

The house is just 2 km from Camporgiano with its river, castle, weekly market, restaurants, bars and shop. The village also boasts a train station for those days when you wish to leave the car behind, and visit the likes of Lucca; Barga; Castelnuovo; Pisa; Florence and the coast.

The house boasts fantastic views of the unspoilt countryside whatever the time of year. Explore the hundreds of hilltop villages, go walking, horse-riding, bike riding, or try the fishing which is excellent. Swim in the vier, visit the local fortress, see the wind caves, or zip wire through the trees.....

Of course the possibilities for picnics are endless and star gazing at night an experience. Relax with a glass of wine and watch locals play Bocce or be a spectator at the cheese rolling for which the area is famous.

In the autumn join in the local passion of mushroom picking or feast on chestnuts which used to form the staple diet for the locals. Tourism is yet to hit this area and this is truly one of those increasingly rare places in Europe for which this can be said.

Food: Garfagnanan cuisine is fairly simple, but scrumptious, using local fresh produce to prepare dishes, which since cooked for the locals are very cheap! Wine is good and inexpensive.There are numerous restaurants in the area and children are welcome. Provisions can easily be found in local bars/shops and supermarkets.

The locals are very friendly and helpful although not many speak English, take your phrase book. That said, we can always assist with translation when required and the owner is really helpful too!

TOURIST TAX - Do note that there is a local stay tax applicable at €1 per person per night, up to a maximum of 5 nights. This does not apply to children under 14.

Bedding and towels are included in the cost of any stay and payment is taken in Sterling or Euros via bank transfer or credit card (using Paypal). All utlities included in price except heating which is payable locally if used. Initial and final clean is included, with a mid stay clean and linen change for a stay of 14 nights. We take a 15% deposit, with the balance payable 8 weeks prior to arrival.

Thank you for your review. We are really glad you loved this spacious property and lovely gardens, along with the large pool. We have friends who come regularly to cycle too. I think they are crazy, but they say the cycling can't be beaten.. We also love Mulin del Rancone and tried the 'Taster Menu' last time we went, and we just ate and ate the most delicious food for half the afternoon.
