From the owner

The Shieling is a purpose built, award winning holiday house which is finished and furnished to a high standard. This eco style property, with grass roof, nestles discretely into the hillside, only a 10min drive from St Andrews. The property has a full glass frontage to take advantage of its panoramic views over Tayside, The Eden Estuary and St Andrews bay. Offering a peaceful and relaxing location, with lawns and patios enveloping the property, our guests have the exclusive use of ample outdoor recreational / BBQ areas and garden fireplace.

The accommodation consists of a large, contemporary, open plan living/dining/kitchen area with log burning stove in addition to the full LPG central heating. Tastefully furnished and finished with oak flooring throughout, it is equipped with a 40" flat screen TV, and free WiFi. Patio doors open from the lounge onto the large paved terrace and garden grounds with its spectacular views.

To the rear of the property there is a covered patio with outside fireplace.

The generous master bedroom has a super king bed, ample storage, double wardrobes and En-suite with bath. There are sliding glass doors to the patio/garden, or you can enjoy the views from the comfort of your own bed! There is also sufficient room for a travel cot if required.

The second bedroom offers twin single beds, fitted wardrobe and vanity desk. This room also has sliding glass doors opening onto the patio/garden.

A spacious family shower room is adjacent to the second bed room.

There is a utility/laundry/storage room with washing machine, tumble drier, microwave, iron and ironing board. There are also outdoor drying facilities.

There is a spacious entrance porch which houses an additional fridge/freezer.

The surrounding countryside offers excellent scenic walks, over hills and through woodlands.

Many beautiful beaches are only a few minutes drive.

There is easy access to road and rail links, making it a desirable base for touring much of Scotland.

Day trips may be made to St Andrews, East Neuk, The Highlands, Glencoe, the Angus Glens, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Loch Lomond, the Trossachs etc, etc - an endless list.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

If Moira (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
