From the owner

We have a lovely two bedroom house with garden and summer house in East Barnet, North London. The house is cosy and situated in a quiet residential street with friendly neighbours and on street parking. It is only a five to ten minute walk to Oakleigh Park station with trains running directly to Kings Cross and Moorgate each taking 15 – 20 minutes. The transport links are fantastic.

The house is equipped with everything you could need for a home away from home. It has a TV/DVD player in the lounge and each of the bedrooms, wireless internet connection, washer/dryer, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave, underfloor heating in the bathroom, etc. We aimed to make the house as comfortable as possible and have provided comfortable beds with Egyptian cotton bedding and high quality mattresses. There is a kingsize bed in the first bedroom and a single bed in the second bedroom. The lounge is at the front of the house but set back from the road so it is quiet and relaxing. The summer house, which is at the back of the house and opens up into the garden, is a wonderful place to completely relax after a hard day sight seeing – or you could give the sight seeing a miss and just enjoy the peace and quiet of the house.

The house was built by William Jackson, who the road is named after, at the turn of the century to accommodate the railway workers hence the name of the cottage. The house is around the corner (not even a two minute walk) from East Barnet village that has a number of restaurants, cafes, supermarkets, shops and a pub. The pub, called the Prince of Wales, was owned by William Jackson. There is also a beautiful park nearby (200 metres) with a children’s play area, a woodland walk, tennis courts, a pitch and putt golf course and a small indoor soft play centre with a cafe.

In the more general area, you have the historic Alexandra Palace, with great views of London, which is only two stops on the overground line from Oakleigh Park station. You also have easy access to Trent Park which houses an equestrian centre, an 18-hole golf course and a Go Ape centre. It is also a lovely place to go for a long walk or cycle ride.

Please note that the house has two floors with steps throughout. Those with mobility issues or young children will need to fully consider this. Also, we do not allow pets or smoking in the house.

Checking in time is from 15.00hrs on the day of residence and checking out time is 11.00hrs on the day of departure. These times are for where we have back to back bookings. Where there are not back to back bookings we are happy to be flexible. When booking please let us have your preferred arrival and departure times and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Why can't I call Rita (the owner) before booking?

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Rita (the owner) a message.

If Rita (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
