“Spacious, clean apartment, good location”

Reviewed 12 Jul 2015

We had a lovely 7 night stay at Il Nido in June 2015. The apartment is spacious and very well equipped - the DVD library and toys were invaluable with a young family. It was very clean and well presented. Approximately 15 minutes walk from the old town. Parking the car outside was never a problem. Apartment managers were very helpful and always available by phone. Defintely recommended.

“This place is lush, super stylish apartment and Alghero is simply stunning!”

Just as my title says “Super stylish apartment and Alghero is simply stunning”. I think we can all agree that you are always taking a chance when booking an apartment from a website and not a travel agent. But Il Nido did not disappoint, in fact it exceeded all expectations! The drive from the airport was quick (25 mins at most) and reasonably priced at €20 / €25 – we were lucky to meet taxi driver Mass at the airport who speaks English and gave us the scenic tour telling us which celebrities lived on the Island and where famous movies had been filmed (always interesting). It was also extremely scenic and the coastal line was stunning. The road in which the apartment is located, is pretty and very quiet, when you walk into the apartment it is cool, extremely stylish and to our surprise much larger than what we expected from the photos. The apartment was very clean, and like I mentioned above much larger than expected with a minimalistic stylish decor but yet still held a welcoming homey feeling as there was a wide choice of books which the family had left along with a broad DVD collection with everything from Disney to Twilight and De Nero, there was even an docking station to play music!!! There is a lovely modern eat in kitchen with a dishwasher, crockery, pots and pans you name it it was all there and to our delight various types of coffee making devices. The bathroom is a good size with a powerful shower! Two balconies as mentioned, one to the front and one to the rear located off the kitchen which was nice for us as one or two evenings we ate at home and liked to sit in the kitchen with the doors open to the balcony, was very nice especially as we were lucky to have warm evenings. The walk to the old town is approx. 10 mins to which you reach beautiful scenic costal line a marina with plenty of quaint bars and restaurants overlooking the sea/ harbour and most importantly sunsets. The town of Alghero is small but there is plenty to do- from sunbathing to snorkelling, hiring a bike and cycling along the costal line to fishing and boat excursions, one in particular to the “Sleeping Giant” and grottos. The old town is stunning too, cobbled streets with an abundance of history as well as LOTS of ice cream shops! A must try is the MALAGA with COFFEE Ice-cream … so so good! We had a fabulous week away, sadly only one week but we are already looking at flights and will definitely be back next year!! Thank you for a comfy and very lovely stay!

Thank you for yet another wonderful review about Il Nido and Alghero. I am so glad you enjoyed your time and memories are still lingering and driving you to book your next holiday. Hurry up requests for 2014 are already coming through!

“Beautiful apartment with a friendly welcome”

Reviewed 13 May 2013

From the moment we arrived at Il Nido we were delighted and knew we had made the right decision after looking at hundreds of others on the internet. We were greeted at the door by two lovely English locals, Louise and David, who manage the property, who gave us some great information about the town, including were to eat, getting the bus, were to buy good wine and the best beaches. They also organised a taxi for us to head back to the airport a few days later. The apartment was spotless, spacious and nicely decorated. Luckily for us we had amazing weather, but if you're not so lucky and get stuck in the apartment, there are hundreds of DVDs and boardgames to keep you entertained. There is also a lovely little balcony too. Il Nido is also is well equipped with more useful things like plenty of kitchen tools, dishwasher and washing machine. There are also a couple of supermarkets near by which we found handy when walking back from town after a day at the beach to stock up on treats before walking back into town (about a 15min walk) for dinner and drinks. When booking Il Nido, the owner, Sonia, responded to all emails really quickly and confirmed all details (like transfer of payments) as soon as she could which was really reassuring. We will certainly be visiting again in the future

Thank you very much for a wonderful review. I am very happy you had a great experience from booking your holiday with me, to being greeted by David and Louise (i adore them!) to have enjoyed the apartment, the beaches and Alghero. i believe a great holiday is created when all aspects go smoothly so to build good memories of a place. if you leave wanting to return you know you spent your money well!

“Very pleasant apartment.”

Reviewed 1 Oct 2012

Apartment was clean, quiet and comfortable in a good location about 15 minutes walk from the old town. We enjoyed our stay there and would happily return. The apartment was well equipped and everything worked fine. A couple of minor points: the washing m/c and oven were showing their age - some of the labels had worn off. The property is correctly advertised as having internet access, however it should state that this is in the form of a dongle, not wifi - no use unless you take a laptop!

Thank you very much for yet another excellent review, i am pleased my guests have for another year enjoyed my much loved apartment, Alghero and Sardinia. I am fully aware the washing machine and the dishwasher need to be replaced, last season however i have invested in a new matress and a new bed for the double bedroom as i thought offering good quality sleep is more important than eletrical items, i am hoping this year to make more improvements and replace old appliances. Again many thanks for your feedback and constructive critisism. Sonia D'Avino owner of Il Nido

“Idyllic Il Nido”

Reviewed 4 Sep 2012

Was met at Alghero airport arrivals by a taxi driver kindly arranged by the Il Nido team. We were then shown around the apartment by David and Louise who were very friendly and knowledgeable about Alghero and surroundings. The apartment had everything we needed for a relaxing holiday and was extremely clean. As a family of four with 2 children (5 and 8) it was great to have space. We went to the local market and bought fresh fish fruit and veg for a meal as well as the supermarket for basics. Il nido is also in a good location for local facilities such as a true locals bar (Fernanda caffe) and great local food. The Carlos V hotel is good for a pool day. We also took the open top bus from the harbour to the fantastic Mugoni beach. Wonderful holiday thank you - we hope to return. Ps. many thanks to Sonia for sorting the booking out for us and also excellent communication.

“Tastefully and airy flat with good location”

Reviewed 15 Aug 2012

Well equipped flat with everything you need. Excellent beds and AC in the bedrooms. Nicely and tastefully decorated in light colours and the rooms are big and "airy". The location is very good in a quiet residential area. Easy to find parking next to the house. About 15 min walk from the old town. Unfortunately no sea view from the narrow balcony.

“A real Sardinian experience”

Reviewed 4 Aug 2012

Spacious apartment in a residential block, 15 minutes walk from the old town. It was as close an experience to living in Alghero as we could have got in one week! An easy walk into the lovely city for a daily cappuccino, repeated each evening for the obligatory ice cream. Sonia made the booking straightforward and the thoughful information both before we left home, and in the visitors pack in the apartment made for a stress-free week.

“Great apartment, lovely stay”

Reviewed 20 May 2012

The apartment was well situated in a quiet residential area, about 10mins walk from the old town. The apartment was very spacious, bright and airy and very nicely presented. We had a one year old baby and it was perfect for him. The communication from the owner was excellent and the property managers were also extremely helpful and efficient. Overall we had a great experience with this apartment and would certainly recommend it. We also loved Alghero and the surrounding area. Fantastic!

Thank you very much for your lovely review, i am pleased you enjoyed your stay in the apartment and you found it was great for your child too which is actually what several parents say about Il Nido! I think it's because it was bought the day after i found out i was expecting my little one (hence the name Il Nido - The Nest) :)

“Bright and spacious”

Reviewed 19 May 2011

Enjoyed a four night stay in this lovely apartment. We were accompanied by our young adult daughter and a friend and there was lots of room for us all. About a ten minute walk took us to the lovely old town of Alghero. We loved the narrow streets and lovely walks, mostly flat. The apartment was clean and fully equipped with all conveniences. Sonia was excellent to deal with. Would recommend this problem with noise as its in a residential area.
