Description from owner

Commanding panoramic rural views across the North Pennines this 16th century cottage was once the granary of this environmentally sensitive farm. Situated in the peaceful North Pennines numerous footpaths and the coast to coast cycle route are within easy reach. The cottage is comfortable and well presented throughout with parking outside.

It makes a perfect retreat for those who like to get away from it all as it is located off the road via a tarmac lane in England's last wilderness.Within easy reach of Hadrians wall, it is a great location for those who like to explore some of the most beautiful landscapes in the country.

The cottage has a large lounge with a log fire with a fitted kitchen and an entrance area suitable for boots and wet weather gear. There is night storage heating and the master bedroom boasts a beautiful view.

The bathroom has a bath, toilet and a recently installed shower.

“Lovely part of the country”

Reviewed 27 Aug 2018

Cosy and comfortable. The cottage was basically child safe (except for the stairs - we brought our own stair gate for my 16 month old). Lots of toys were on offer for different ages. No WiFi until you hit the main road, but we did not miss this. The owners are friendly and helpful but not intrusive. They had tasty eggs for sale at a reasonable price and got us an extra heater when we were cold and dug out the dvd player. Parking is a little restricted but it wasn't difficult to work round this. The drive to the main road is narrow and steep but with good traction so total safe to navigate.

“Cosy cottage in peaceful countryside”

We enjoyed our stay in this comfy cottage. Linen and towels are included which is always nice. We liked the open fire. The owners are friendly and very helpful. The cottage is in a great location, with a lovely view and lots of attractions nearby (by car). eg. Hadrian's Wall, The Sill visitor centre, Prudhoe for the castle and a bike ride along the river in to Newcastle.

“Rural retreat”

Reviewed 24 Aug 2015

I stayed here with another female friend, both in our sixties and we really enjoyed our stay. The cottage is very much 'out of the way' but the views and wildlife are worth the drive down winding roads. We were there for two nights so the lack of a shower was not a problem for us. The facilities are adequate and the whole stay represented value for money. The owners are on site and friendly. There is so much to see in this part of Northumberland and the cottage was fine for a base to our roaming around. Visit Langley Castle for a refreshment, it is impressive. Good food at the nearby Elks Head pub.children would love it here, dog, cats, loads of books and games ....and a real fire!

“Lovely quiet spot, beautiful views, cosy log fire.”

Felt at home straight away. Owners very accommodating and helpful. Lovely views across the valley. Very relaxing four days.

“Perfect country retreat.”

Reviewed 5 May 2014

Fantastic place, Richard and Elizabeth were very welcoming and accommodating hosts. I would 100% recommend, the farm is out in the middle of the countryside and is perfect for those looking to get some peace and quiet. The cottage is in beautiful surroundings and great for walks, the surrounding area is easily accessible by car but requires some driving. The interior is as shown, books and toys are provided and although it is a small cottage it will easily accommodate a family or group of 4. We had no complaints and only wished we could have stayed longer. This is a perfect place for those looking for a retreat to the country.
