Traditional tuffeau-stone farmhouse with 12 x 6 meter heated swimming pool & fenced garden with panoramic views to the west. All bedrooms en-suite. Only 7 miles from Saumur yet situated in a calm rural location. Good cycling and walking area with quiet country lanes and national forest only 500 metres away. Riverside water parks with beaches are within easy reach. Nearby town 1 mile away with small supermarket, bakers, butcher, bars, hairdressers, restaurant, garage etc. Set in the heart of the Loire valley wine appellations of Bourgeuil, Chinon, Champigny & Saumur.

La Grange is a 18th century cottage recently refurbished to a very high standard. It is completely separate and has its own private access. Downstairs: Fully equipped kitchen with lovely westerly views over its own exclusive enclosed private garden and patio area. Dining area overlooks the pool in the sheltered courtyard. Open plan salon with seating for 6, satellite TV & DVD player has French doors leading to the garden and terrace. There is WIFI throughout the gite. The ground floor bedroom & shower-room have been designed to be wheelchair friendly (please see our web-site for exact details). Upstairs: 2 en-suite twin bedrooms-one with bath, one with shower.

The sheltered 12 x 6 meter heated pool is situated in the walled courtyard and provides the perfect place to take a languid dip. It is the ideal spot to catch up with holiday reading, bask in the sun or nod off on the comfortable sunbeds provided.
There is fun for all the family in our games room which has table tennis & table football. The games room leads out to 2.5 hectares of grounds. Here we have a communal seating area where you can sit, glass of wine in hand, and watch the stunning sunsets. A large section of the land has been set aside for general recreation - Football, boules & croquet can all be played here. For the little ones there are swings, a seesaw and a slide they can play on. A selection of bikes is available for guests to borrow for small trips into town for a loaf, perhaps, or for longer trips around the quiet lanes in the beautiful surrounding countryside. The swimming pool is open May to September.

“Superb! A Benchmark for others to aim for”

A superb location with the culture and classic French delights of wine and cheeses readily available. Nice and quiet plus peaceful to rest and enjoy the immaculate accommodation including a large spotless swimming pool. This is family run and the care and attention to detail clearly shows ensuring your stay is perfect. You can be assured of a genuine friendly welcome from a really nice family with local knowledge. The garden is secure and the Gite private so you can relax and enjoy your surroundings. This has to be the benchmark others aim to achieve. Thank-you I really enjoyed my stay

What a lovely place to stay and the accommodation first class. Judy and Mark were great hosts and very helpful. So relaxing and enjoyable, just what we all needed. Near to many interesting towns etc so good location too.

We stayed at La Grange during August for a week; myself, my husband and two children. This was our third visit to Volets Rouges and we will be back again, no doubt. Mark and Judy and their family are incredibly good hosts, very welcoming and friendly. They host welcome drinks to introduce everyone and a wine tasting session at a local vineyard during the week. The family also have a very friendly dog who my children fell in love with and were allowed to walk every day! The accomodation is really good, very clean, well equiped and tastefully decorated. We were extremely comfortable during our stay. The pool area is safe for children and large considering the number of gites. We spent alot of time around the pool its lovely and clean and generally quite warm. Judy even supplies pool towels which saves alot of space in the suitcase. The area has lots to offer, we took bikes as it's really flat and Saumaur is easily accessible by bike. There are lots of local restaurants and Mark and Judy are very helpful with bike routes and recommended places to eat and visit. Overall we would recomment this holiday to anyone really, no complaints at all!

How do damage deposits work?
