Pilot’s Cottage nestles on a hillside above the historic port of Amlwch commanding magnificent views over the port and the sea beyond. This is a cottage that gives you a great big welcome hug from the moment you step through the front door. For the fishing enthusiasts it’s just a short walk to fish from the harbour wall or to arrange fishing or sightseeing boat trips. Alternatively, launch your own boat from here or just a little further up the coast at Bull Bay where you will also find the 18-hole golf course. The cottage is well placed for walkers being only yards from the renowned Anglesey Coastal Path, though it may take several visits to complete the full 130 miles. Anglesey boast such varied and interesting things to do and see and some of the best beaches you’ll find anywhere.
This is a cottage you will love spending time in. Its cosy rooms warmed by gas central heating and a coal effect gas fire in the lounge make it a year-round destination. The enormous arched window in the well equipped kitchen frames a view which is truly breathtaking. There will be no shortage of volunteers to do the washing up or share a glass of wine whilst preparing the evening meal, although caution must be taken to make sure you chop the vegetables not your fingers whilst staring at the ever changing view. There is a large dining table with seating for 6 in the lounge and the comfy sofa is perfect for curling up in the evening whilst watching tv or choosing a dvd or book from the extensive choice available. You will also find lots of those games you never quite find the time to play at home. From the lounge the corridor leads to a cosy double bedroom with exposed beams, a further spacious room with twin beds and the family bathroom. Back along the corridor a door opens to reveal a tiny, narrow staircase leading to the upstairs double bedroom under the eaves. This is a beautiful atmospheric room with a Juliette balcony framing a wonderful view of the sea. There is also a tv here. All the bedrooms invite you to a peaceful night's sleep with the finest crisp, pure organic cotton sheets ethically sourced and manufactured. You will also find lots of fluffy soft towels for your use and toiletries made locally by Cole & Co. Of Beaumaris. (A town well worth a visit with its moated castle, interesting shops and cafes and a bracing seafront.)
Outside there is off road parking for 2 cars. A side gate takes you onto the large decked area at the front of the cottage, perfect for relaxing with a beer or glass of wine watching the boats come and go with the ebb and flow of the tides. Just the place to unwind as the sun goes down after an energy packed day walking, fishing or visiting the many wonderful beaches Anglesey has to offer. There are too many to mention here, but a lovely 2 mile walk along the headland (or a 5 minute drive in the car) will bring you to the lovely shingle beach of Porth Eilian and on to the Point Lynas lighthouse, the best place for dolphin and porpoise spotting. Lligwy beach, a little further along the coast, is an great place to visit with the beach café providing wonderful homemade food, cakes and a wood fired pizza hut. In summer the tepee goes up and the bands start playing. There is a good reason Pilot’s Cottage has so many returning guests and 5 star reviews. Why not come and find out for yourselves.
