"Refuge Inn," is a one-bedroom guesthouse which is ideal for a married couple or a single. It is modern, on ground floor with no stairs to climb, fully furnished with hot & cold pressurized water, refrigerator, gas stove and oven, microwave oven, stainless steel kitchen sink, and cabinets with a full compliment of dishes and cookware. The great room is comprised of the kitchen, dining and living areas. There is a breakfast bar & stools and living room furniture, lamp, Cable TV, and High speed wired Internet Wi-Fi service. A light & airy atmosphere with skylights and windows as well as electric lights. There are laundry facilities - a washer and 2 dryers, which are shared with the other two guesthouses. Our climate is pleasant the year round with top temperatures at 80° and low at about 50° at night. In the large bedroom, there is a double bed, and is equipped with a closet, 2 dressers, lamps, mirrors and a good sized window. Towels and bed linens are furnished. There is a modern bath with hand basin, toilet & shower. The exterior door and all the windows have screens. Total living space is 350 Ft. Secure situation with an 8-foot wall that completely surrounds the property with extensive sidewalks. There is privacy, since the guesthouse is separate from the other two Apartments. There is a homey atmosphere rather than a cold apartment complex. Located immediately to the rear of Hotel Santo Domingo & a person can access the hotel for an ATM machine. Within easy walking distance of stores and markets. The rent includes washer and dryer and all utilities -- High speed Internet Wi-Fi and TV cable and secure parking. 10% discount for 3 months or longer. Restrictions are that there be no animals, partying, or smoking. A dinner drink is o.k., but don't care for excesses. Fresh vegetables at the native open Market are relatively cheap compared with the U.S. Excellent health and dental care here at a very reasonable cost. We are Paul & Ruth Philippi and have been Protestant missionaries in Guatemala for 59 years.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.
