The house is very comfortable and relaxing. There are 4 other houses nearby and only one is permanently occupied, that being a farmhouse with wonderful neighbours who are very friendly and hospitable. One house is unused at present, the other two are used for holidays by the owners only during the summer. The location is great and would suit either families ( we have families who have returned many times) or couples looking for a retreat. There are many beautiful walks just outside the front door so would suit country lovers/ramblers. We have said that smoking is allowed as there is the open fire to sit next to and the fumes will go up the chimney, alternately there is the great outdoors which is where most visitors will spend their time. From experience though, if people do want to smoke, they will find a way and as we would rather provide ashtrays than have crockery used, so be it - after all, it is a holiday!
The sockets are all standard 3 pin British as that suits most of our guests but if you do need to plug in a European device there are adaptors.
St.Julien Aux Bois is a few minutes away and although there are no local shops there is an award winning restaurant. The house is situated midway (about 4 miles either way) between the market towns of St.Privat and Pleaux which both have small supermarkets, bakers etc. The nearest decent sized town is Argentat which has a full range of facilities including a weekly market (big one week, small the next). All of these places are steeped in history and very picturesque.
There are numerous restaurants and bars to visit in any of the local towns.
Further details indoors
The house is open plan downstairs (approx 6 x 7 metres) with a kitchen/dining area at one end and a sitting area with a huge open fire (over 2 metres wide) which houses the original bread oven at the other. Upstairs is a fully equipped bathroom with bath/hand held shower, washbasin, bidet and WC.There are two bedrooms - one is a very large double and the second is even bigger with a double and two single beds which still leaves plenty of room. There is no pool or television as we feel that these would compromise the idyllic setting and nature of Rosiers but it is always possible to bring a DVD player and plug it into our standard 3 pin English sockets.
Further details outdoors
Outside is a garden with patio, garden furniture and BBQ. There is ample private parking.
