Description from owner

Description

Approached via a long sweeping driveway, flanked by a large wild life pond and undulating fields grazed by cattle, Rowdale nestles in a sheltered spot in the heart of the Peak National Park, surrounded by mature grounds. The cottage is located in the old farm outbuildings within the cartilage of the original grade 2 listed Derbyshire longhouse, dating back to the early 1600's.

This comfortable character cottage, with a gateway onto the Monsal Trail, provides easy access to the footpaths, bridleways and cycle routes. There is an excellent choice of pubs, village shops, and cafe's all within a short walk. It also provides an excellent base to visit the many visitor attractions to be found in the surrounding area.

Please note that guests need to provide their own personal toiletries and towels. We are sorry but we do not allow pets in this cottage. Supply for log burning stoves can be purchased in Bakewell.

The hiring or installation of additional equipment ie hot tubs, marquees, tents, gazebos, P A systems, live acts/bands, discos is not permitted at the property.

Fireworks are not permitted on the premises under any circumstances.

The property is solely for the use of the maximum number of guests that are on the booking and cannot be used as a venue for any events or host any additional guests.

Please note that changes to the original booking will incur an admin fee of £45. Thank you.

“spatious, comfortable, stylish”

Reviewed 21 Aug 2018

My family and I stayed in one of Al Dean's cottage near Bakewell for a week in August. It was very roomy, well equipped, clean and perfectly placed to explore the Peak District. Being near Bakewell put us within half an hour of most of the places we wanted to visit. It was also great we were able to bring our dog who was very happy there too. The peace and tranquility of the spot and glimpses of nature around us also helped make for an excellent stay.

“The Coach House”

The location is perfect for exploring the Peak District but the cottage wasn’t set up for a toddler as we had told the owner would be with us. There wasn’t a stair gate to stop him from going upstairs and no high chair. Had to resort to using a spare mattress found under a bed to stop him going upstairs. The internet also not working.

“Lovely cottage just felt as it hadn't been cleaned”

Needed dusting and cobwebs removed also lacked cooking utensils Location was great though and definitely would return

“Spacious, comfortable and well equipped”

Reviewed 25 Sep 2012

A better standard than the average holiday cottage. Big bedrooms with comfortable beds and both ensuite. You can cook properly in the well equipped kitchen - the knives are sharp; that's a first in a holiday home! Plenty of seating in the lounge and picnic table outside. We had great weather but I think the cottage would be very cosy in all seasons. Good food to be had in nearby Great Longstone. The only downside is the close proximity of a fairly busy road, although I cannot say it bothered me much.
