Charming, private, quiet, and modern home nestled under a hilltop canopy of trees in the heart of historic and trendy VIRGINIA HIGHLAND, Atlanta's most cherished neighborhood.
Welcome to Atlanta's favorite living and commercial district, Virginia-Highland, founded in the early 20th century as a streetcar suburb. When you step out of this home you will find yourself right in the heart of this sought-after destination. Famous for its bungalows and other historic houses from the 1910s-1930s, you will be staying in one of the district's finest example homes. Virginia-Highland is a sought-after destination for visitors to the City, but also Atlanta natives due to its eclectic mix of restaurants, bars, shops, the Summerfest festival, annual Tour of Homes and countless other social events.
In 2011 locals voted Virginia-Highland 'Best Overall Neighborhood', and in June 2011, AtlantaMagazine designated Virginia Highland 'favorite neighborhood overall'. In 2012 local residents voted Virginia-Highland 'Best Walkable Neighborhood'.
Your beautiful, modern home is private, yet right in the bustling, vibrant cultural heart of Atlanta, just steps away from the City's finest restaurants, its largest and most coveted green space, Piedmont Park (think New York's Central Park), and everything else a world traveler wants. You just discovered Atlanta's future, a green, walking-friendly community alive with promise. When eating in, stock up at Trader Joe's or Whole Foods just blocks away. You have a gorgeous chef's kitchen to prepare those fabulous and memorable meals. When it's time to eat out on the town, just steps away you will find world-class food offerings from renowned establishments such as Murphy's, Fontaine's Oyster House, La Tavola Trattoria, Noche, Two Urban Licks, just to name a few of the amazing culinary options. The Highland's favorite coffee shop is around the corner, and a few more steps and you have well known live music venues such as Blind Willies, all manner of entertainment, outdoor concerts, shopping, festivals, the list simply does not end. When visiting Atlanta this location is simply the place to be, and you are centrally located walking distance from it all.
Your accommodation is an entire house set up on a hill under a canopy of trees. On arrival an incredible hand-forged iron gate by ironwork artist Corrina Sephora Mensoff greets you at the street. Open the Mensoff gate and an inviting bamboo path leads you up to your home.
The lower level has an open floor plan with lots of light streaming in and a spacious 20 feet high vaulted ceiling. The second level is a beautiful loft-style master suite that feels just like a treehouse.
You have a new kitchen equipped with Leitch cabinetry from Germany, Miele appliances, built-in refrigerator, commercial stainless steel vent hood, granite countertops, many built-in pantries, and a lovely breakfast bar! All the modern conveniences are present: instant hot water for teas and coffee, an extra toaster oven, coffee grinder, French press, dishwasher, electric oven and range, garbage disposal, and microwave.
A monolithic antique iron spiral staircase leads upstairs to the master bedroom/loft space, which is on-level with the property's canopy of trees. It's the best of both worlds; you will feel like you are in a tree house and yet sealed in a modern and comfortable home at the same time!
Four beds easily sleep 8 people, with a brand new Queen Serta iComfort Genius gel mattress equipping the master suite and other high-quality comfort mattresses throughout. Note that two of the bedrooms are in the semi-private loft. While the area is large and divided, these bedrooms do not have closing doors between them.
A lovely leather sofa and club chairs adorn the living room, while the dining area is furnished with a dining table large enough for your entire party.
From the dining area two sets of French doors lead you to a beautiful flagstone patio and arbor, perfect for outdoor dining and entertaining. From there a labyrinth of stone steps and secret paths invite you to explore the terraced back depths of the property.
You are staying in a classic and historic bungalow with all the charm of the Virginia-Highlands, yet with all the modern conveniences of life. A NEST network-controlled thermostat monitors the brand new state-of-the-art heating and cooling system to give you ultimate comfort; the centralized Lutron lighting system gives you and your guests perfectly-tuned lighting for every occasion. On the first floor a modern, full-sized front-loading clothes washer and dryer set are available for your use.
If you need to venture out of the Highlands (though we're not sure that you will ever want to), downtown Atlanta is about 8 blocks way, where you will find easy access to the City's downtown business center, Midtown businesses and nightlife, and to the South you will find trendy Inman Park with the City's very oldest homes.
