Situated on the route de Saint Jacques de Compostelle ("Way of Saint James" the famous pilgrims walking route to Santiago de Compostella in Northern Spain) our home is a beautiful stone farmhouse with outbuildings including a stone pigeonnier full of character, which was converted into a two bedroom/bathroom gite/cottage in 2010.
La Maison du Soleil has two large bedrooms with opened beamed ceilings each with ensuite and separate toilets. The main living area has a fully equipped kitchen/dining area and lounge with large flatscreen tv, free wifi and ipod dock and a wood burner for rentals during the cooler months. A private terrace to the back of the property boasts wonderful views and has a large patio set, deckchairs a parasol and a BBQ.
The 6mx12m salt water pool is surrounded by a lovely stone wall sheltering it from any wind and it is also gated for security and the safety of young children.
For those who want to burn off some excess energy or escape from the midday heat we have added a games room converted from an old stone barn. It has a full size table tennis table, professional table football, large air hockey table and dartboard, as well as a fridge, stepping machine, running machine, wobble plate and a seating area. For the younger members of the family there is a large trampoline and garden games available. We also have a number of bikes to hire if you prefer to explore the area under your own steam.
The gardens are mainly laid to lawn and are perfect for strolling around in the warm evening sunshine contemplating the activities for the following day, of course a glass of wine to aid in your decision making is a must!
The large purpose built BBQ area adjoining the pool house has a vine covered terrace overlooking the lake with valley views beyond. Subtle lighting and lanterns adorn this little enclave. Mixed with the warm evening air and the sound of lapping water from the pool, it creates a perfect ambiance for that alfresco experience that you crave all winter for!
Fishing in our private lake is a great way to introduce the children to a new sport. We have both rods and poles for hire and as the lake is teaming with lots of small and medium sized fish - on the first drop of the line you are almost guaranteed to get a nibble!
