A taxi, Grab or Uber or local bus brings you in about 40 minutes from the center of Yogya or from the new airport to the house of Mas Prio, near Jalan Wates, 10.5 km. west of the city, in a quiet residential area. [not far from Museum Soeharto] Apart from the traditionally build pendopo where the family of Mas Prio lives, there is a charming chouse with two rooms, each for two/three persons.
You can take many walks or cycle trough lovely rice fields and authentic Javanese villages. Mas Prio, who studied agriculture and psychology at the nearby university, can be your local guide. Ask him about Javanese rice culture, tropical plants and trees. Take a break halfway. There is always a local hangout where you can drink something. Prio will learn you the right Indonesian words so you can order your drink.
