Description from owner

Description

The Barn is a much loved four bedroom property which has been beautifully converted to keep as much traditional character in place as possible whilst providing a high degree of comfort. We think this is one of the highest quality holiday homes available in Normandy.

If you are seeking a home from home this is an ideal choice especially if you appreciate comfort, good design and decor and an eye for detail. Much of the furniture is bespoke and handmade.

As you enter the impressive hallway with Cathedral ceiling and gallery handmade staircase you have the comfortable sitting room on the left with a magnificent open fireplace. Here you'll find two super large and comfy sofas arranged around the coffee table, a card table, desk (great if you need to do some work or homework), flatscreen TV with UK Freeview and DVD player.

To the right of the entrance hall is the open plan kitchen/dining room with an impressive 4-metre refectory table in wild cherry with fruitwood benches which comfortably seats 12 and the fully-fitted bespoke kitchen with maple worktops. There is a stable door to garden, fridge, dishwasher, hob and oven. There is a separate fridge/freezer in the storeroom.

Through the kitchen is the downstairs WC, utility area with sink and washer/dryer. Off this is the boot room/store with freezer, bicycles, outdoor games, garden furniture and barbecue.

Upstairs you'll find four spacious bedrooms each with Shaker-style bespoke furniture and extensive built in cherry wood wardrobes and chests of drawers which gives a clean and sophisticated decor.

The first bedroom you reach is a double with an en suite shower room, the second opposite this has twin beds. Walking around the galleried landing you reach the family bathroom with a bath with shower over and twin sinks, the second twin bedroom and the fourth double bedroom with en suite shower room. This has a king size bed.

We have travel cots and high chairs available as well as an extra single bed should it be needed.

All towels and linen is proved and there is abundant cookware, matching plates and serving dishes.

We look forward to welcoming you.

Further details

Portsmouth - St Malo (Brittany Ferries). St Malo is about an hour and half from Boudet. The crossing is eight hours so this is a better option if you decide to travel overnight.

Further details indoors

The Barn has been interior designed in a shaker style and all the furniture has been lovingly handmade. Each bedroom has handbuilt cherry wood wardrobes and drawers. The ground floor has wooden and tiled flooring and the bedrooms are carpeted.

The TV has UK Freeview and a DVD player so do bring your own DVDs to watch.

Further details outdoors

Communal BBQ/outdoor eating area. The property has large grounds and gardens including a beautiful orchard to the front of the Barn, a central lawned courtyard and a large rear garden, part of which is a wild garden.

We provide six adult bikes for all our guests to use but do bring you own for longer cycles. The property is just off the Voile Verte - a purpose built cycle path, once a railway, which runs all the way to Mont St Michel. The country lanes are also lovely to cycle around.

“10 out of 10 for a relaxing family holiday”

Reviewed 7 May 2017

We just arrived home from a great family holiday in Normandy spent in this converted barn. Although the weather was not that great this place is ideally located for a day trips to explore Normandy. If you are looking for piece and quite family get together location this is the place to go. We traveled by car via the Euro tunnel from Central Bedfordshire and the journey took us approximately 7 hours door to door. My 3 year old son enjoyed the large grounds and all sorts of games and toys from the shed. There is also an Enchanted Village (small theme park) just a 30min drive away to keep the little people happy (opened during the weekends and school holidays only). The barn is well equipped with everything in working order. The housekeepers were on call when we arrived to switch the heating on for us (remotely via internet). The whole place was pristinely clean. There was enough wood in the shed to have a fire in the fire place every evening if we wanted to. In the living room we found a cupboard packed with all sorts of board games which we all enjoyed playing in the evenings. The kitchen had all the expected appliances, crockery and tools to smoothly cater for 8 people. Perhaps plastic cups and plates for the outdoors (or children) would be a good addition in the future. I would recommend the local bakery (in Barenton) which we visited several times. For small shopping the supermarket in Barenton (3 miles) is fine but if you looking to stock up (there are 2 fridges to store enough for 8 people) I would recommend Carrefour or Aldi in Mortain (10 miles away). Going out for a meal is a bit of a mission. You really need to book in advance or find out what is open and when to avoid disappointment. We will definitely return as we all throughly enjoyed our stay. I can imagine Christmas must be rather magical there but the outdoor space is also great entertaining space for summer barbecues (we had only one as the weather wasn't that kind to us).
