Description

Shraigh Hill is situated five miles (7 minutes drive) from the town of Belmullet and one mile from the village of Glencastle. The property is built to a superbly high standard, individually designed and set on an unrivalled site with a 270 degree sea view, overlooking Claggen Island, the Atlantic and Achill Island.

This is one of the most traditional and friendly rural areas in the whole Ireland. Belmullet town has a host of shops, pubs, restaurants, supermarkets and bike hire etc. whilst Geesala and Bangor Erris are within 10 min drive and offer supermarket, petrol stations and pubs.

Fishing

Shore fishing is particularly good all round the area. Miles of accessible coastline and almost deserted beaches guarantee the amateur or professional fisherman perfect peace. With over 50 varieties of fish known to inhabit the waters off the shores of Belmullet, the sea-angler is also well rewarded with the best all-round sea angling waters in Ireland.The Belmullet Sea Angling Club run a number of open competitions during the year.

For golfing enthusiasts Carne Golf Club is a class of its own and was voted one of the top ten links courses in the whole of Europe. This exciting links course, with a natural setting of incomparable beauty, was designed by Eddie Hackett around splendid sand dunes on ancient commonage. The elevated tees and plateau greens exploit the beauty, while the deceptive dog-legs and lurking bunkers will punish the careless shot.

For surfers and kitesurfers Shraigh beach is beautiful, safe and welcoming, whilst for those seeking peace and relaxation this is one of the most idyllic spots in the region.

Wooden floors, solid fuel stove, every modern appliance, fantastic kitchen with belfast sink and sea views, incredible conservatory with vaulted ceiling and full length chapel windows to make the most of the view, cosy yet elegant living room, master bedroom en suite, plus 2 separate bathrooms. To get a real taste of Ireland, with its turf fires, traditional music, great Guinness, fantastic scenery and a warm Irish welcome, make sure you head to Belmullet, Co Mayo, it's the best in the West!Shraigh beach is a 2 minute drive or 10 minute stroll away and you will often have the whole of this glorious beach to yourself, with its crystal clear waters and beautiful white sands. Carne Golf Club is 8 miles from the property and the nearest airport is Knock airport. The house is also fully equipped for anyone who has young children, i.e. cot, buggy, high chair and a selection of children's toys.

(Please note, we offer full refund of all booking deposits cancelled over one month in advance of arrival date. After that we still will if we can find an alternative guest, if not we can't I'm afraid, as particularly for peak season this would make it highly unlikely to be able to find an alternative guest, thanks!)

“Fabulous house and views”

We have just had a fantastic holiday at island view house. The views were fabulous and ever changing with the tides and weather. The house was spacious and very comfortable especially the beds, plenty of hot water and logs for the fire the kitchen was big and the table was big enough to fit our family of nine around very easily. There was a lovely welcome pack and milk in the fridge .Mary was lovely who met us and made us most welcome, we will definitely come back here again the beaches are fabulous and often deserted the dogs loved their walks on the beach.The house is well situated for touring Mayo Achill island is lovely to visit.Can I just take this opportunity to thank Paul for all his help and prompt replies to any of my queries and for letting us stay in his lovely home kind regards and best wishes Andrea and family

“Simply Beautiful”

Spent a week at this beautiful location with my daughter and family and we were blessed with sunshine.The house was really spacious and had everything we needed and the sunsets from the sun lounge were something to behold.My 2 grand-daughters had great time playing in the garden,not to mention the magnificent beach which they had to themselves most days and is overlooked by the house and just a few minutes drive away.I would recommend to anyone that wants a nice relaxing family holiday in a beautiful house with wonderful scenery.

We stayed in island view house for the first few days in August and it was absolutely amazing! There were 10 of us and none of us wanted to leave! Plenty of room for kids to play, views are out of this world and the house was well equipped and very clean, Paul and his family are all very welcoming and helpful and the food hamper was a nice touch! The area was beautiful and the people are so friendly! We are already discussing our next trip! We would Highly recommend this place to everyone!!

This is the perfect accommodation for friends or family to get away from it all or just get together. The house is ideally named, as the views of the island and beach are fantastic. As well as the four bedrooms and three bathrooms, you are spoiled for living accommodation and a fantastic sun room to watch the sun going down. The owners made us feel so welcome. Will definitely be going back.

How do damage deposits work?

If Paul (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
