Further details indoors

The Barn is a 4* Gold Award property that sleeps 6 guests. All families and babies are welcome - it is a pet free cottage. Recently refurbished with new oak flooring, new bathroom and upgraded lamps showing off the beautiful beams in this stunning timber-framed, grade two listed building.

Step through the entrance hall and into the extremely well-equipped kitchen (with electric cooker, microwave, fridge, dishwasher and mini freezer). The comfortable and inviting living room has a 40" flat screen TV and DVD player. The dining area has a beautifully hand-made iron legged table and matching chairs, seating six very comfortably. A high chair and travel cot may easily be provided.

Master Bedroom - There is a super king size bed in the ground floor bedroom. The sizeable en-suite bathroom has a large bath and separate shower as well as wc and sink.

There are two staircases, one leads upstairs to a twin-bedded room and the other to a double bedroom with a bathroom opposite. Please note there is no shower in this bath because of the surrounding beams.

We understand that when you go away you can never really be sure about how well you're going to sleep which is why we have chosen high quality comfortable orthopaedic mattresses made up with Egyptian cotton bed linen and towels. The bedroom/bathrooms are stocked with plenty of hangers, toilet rolls, cotton wool, flannels, locally hand-made lavender soap and a hair-dryer in each bedroom. Fuel is included and our own spring water is supplied to the cottages (tested annually). As the water is pumped from the header tank it gives great water pressure in the showers.

In the kitchen you can expect to find extras such as clingfilm, foil, kitchen towel, tea towels, bin liners and all washing up requirements. The sittingrooms have large LCD televisions with side loading DVD player, there are books, maps, games and films to either read, play or watch during your stay.

Further details outdoors

There are two outside eating areas. One is a patio immediately outside the Barn with table, parasol and chairs and the other is a shared outside eating area that also has an undercover section. This houses a log burning barbeque area so that the rain never need upset a barbeque party, it has enough seating for 10 people both undercover and outside. There are also loungers and more free standing BBQs for when the weather is fine.

“Characterful, comfortable, friendly, helpful - great with the family”

Reviewed 23 Aug 2016

Three generations of our family stayed in the barn for a week - six people fitted in very well. The facilities were far above what we had expected, (the barbecue area in particular) and Sam was so very helpful during our stay which made it all the better. The area is great, and the Bottle & Glass pub nearby is also friendly and excellent. Definitely recommended.

It's very kind of you to write. Thank you very much indeed. It was a huge pleasure to meet you all and we appreciated the help with the piglets! Wishing all of you the very best. Sam

“A very warm welcome to luxury accommodation”

Reviewed 11 Jan 2013

We stayed at the Barn for Christmas Week 2012. The cottage is located in fabulous countryside and quite remote for winter travelling. We received a lovely welcome from the owner who had baked us mince pies and povided mullled wine. Also a delicious evening meal delivered from the local deli was waiting for us. A decorated xmas tree warmed the sitting room. The standard of accommodation is top quality and particularly the three bedrooms and bathrooms which are extremely attractive with exposed oak beams. The sitting room/dining room might been seeh as a little compact for six adults but was fine for our party of 4 plus one small baby. There is no open fire but I imagine it would be difficult to fit one given the constraints of the barn conversion. The shower in the main bathroom is probably the best I have ever experienced. The owner has gone to great efforts to make the farmyard attractive for visitors with outside seating areaas and bbqs etc although being the middle of a very wet winter we could not benefit from this. There is however an additional laundry room with extra fridges and freezers which was extremly useful for storing our mass of xmas grub.Farmhouse food is available from the owner and watching the animals at feeding time is fun. The area is gloirious for walking/birdwatching etc and for foodies with a wealth of top quality eateries all around. Our perfect location which we want to come back to when its not raining!

Thank you so very much for your kind words about The Barn. We are thrilled that you enjoyed your stay so much and would be delighted to see you again some time in the future. All the best
