We have very sadly been forced to address our pricing in relation to the current cost of living crisis here in the UK; our nightly price has been kept as low as possible and INCLUDES gas and electricity.
Following complete renovation, Corniwillin Cottage welcomed its' first guests in January 2018. And what a first year we had! Excellent occupancy rates despite being the new kids in town, lovely reviews, a request to film for TV (sadly, we were fully-booked and unable to invite the film crew in), several sets of returning guests - it's been amazing, thank you!
Corniwillin is Devon dialect for lapwing - our very own corniwillin was installed in March 2018 after being crafted by a local artisan - see if you can find it!
Nestled in a central but quiet residential street, just a stone's throw from the historic Pannier Market, this cottage sleeps 6 - choose from a kingsize bed, a trundle daybed (can be a single, two singles or a kingsize bed) and a large and comfortable sofabed.
2 bedrooms: Bedroom 1 has a kingsize bed with memory foam mattress, a built-in wardrobe, full-length mirrors, portable beanbag seating, a hairdryer and a 32" TV with Freeview and built-in DVD player which will play CDs.
Bedroom 2 has a daybed with trundle under - this can be pulled out to form 2 single beds at different heights, or raised on legs to form a kingsize bed. The mattresses are springy and have memory foam toppers for your comfort - please resist the temptation to jump/bounce on this bed lol. This room also has a freestanding wardrobe with rail, drawers and mirror, plus a TV with DVD/VHS player. Plenty of clothes hangers are provided in both bedrooms for your convenience.
The living room has a multi-fuel stove, 40" TV with Freeview and a DVD/Blu-Ray player. Due to COVID-19, NowTV, books, DVDs and games have temporarily been removed from the cottage - we apologise for any inconvenience and hope to reinstate them as soon as we can.
The kitchen is fully-equipped, with sage green units, oak worktops, fridge-freezer, double oven, ceramic hob, microwave, dishwasher and plenty of crockery, cutlery, utensils, gadgets and pans; for the nights you fancy chilling out at home with home-cooked meals. Check out our new map wall, intended to help you plan your stay and get the most out of the wonderful local area and attractions!
Whether a bath with handheld showerhead or a large separate shower cubicle is your favourite, Corniwillin provides both to choose from in the large upstairs bathroom (sorry, but there is no toilet downstairs). Towels are included. The washing machine is in the corner cupboard in the bathroom, by the sink.
Free wi-fi is provided, plus DVD, Blu-Ray and VHS players. Radio stations can be accessed via the Freeview service on all TVs or the CD stereo in the kitchen.
The garden is an enclosed, walled courtyard with new patio laid in April 2018; tables and seating for 6 provide a perfect space for intimate al fresco dining, or a family feast using the charcoal BBQ provided.
There is a covered outdoor passage to the rear of the property - perfect for storing your bikes if you've come to enjoy the perfect cycling countryside.
Pets welcome for £30 (per pet per stay) to cover additional cleaning. If you would like to bring your pets, please request a quote before booking. 2 feed bowls, 1 water bowl and 1 large dog bed are provided, plus towels for muddy paws.
Early check in or late check out may be possible for £10 per hour, depending on availability. PLEASE NOTE: if requesting a revised quote due to pets, early check in/late check out or any other reason, please DO NOT pay the deposit until you receive the revised quote. You may be charged twice and then be re-credited for the first deposit. This is a function of the site and is beyond our control.
We provide all linen for your convenience - our cleaning fee includes tumbledrying the towels and teatowels to keep them soft and fluffy for all our guests, plus washing and ironing the bedding and throws.
PLEASE NOTE: the sliding sash windows at the front of the house only open a couple of inches for safety. They have brass bumpstops - please DO NOT force them past these, or you will break the frames!
Those with limited mobility should be aware of the following:
There is a large sofabed downstairs, but the bathroom is upstairs and the stairs in this traditional glovemakers cottage are quite steep. There is no downstairs loo - we're sorry for any disappointment, but there isn't anywhere to install one!
There is a step up from the pavement to the front door.
Corniwillin Cottage is our second home - we have tried to think of everything, in the hope it becomes the same for you. We hope you have a wonderful time in our little house!
