A true ‘picture postcard’ traditional Lakeland cottage in this pretty countryside hamlet, less than a minute’s stroll to The Hare & Hounds, a superb pub serving real ales and great food and only a short drive from Bowness and Lake Windermere. Retaining charming original features with inset woodburning fireplace and enchanting cottage windows.

Ample private parking and a large rear garden Smithy Cottage is ideal for a holiday at any time of the year. A few hundred yards up the hill from the sleepy hamlet of Bowland Bridge is the famous Mason's Arms at Strawberry Bank, another tempting hostelry to drag you out of the kitchen.

Ample parking for 2 or 3 cars behind the cottage with a large garden, which has a picturesque river that can be viewed from it. Entrance into the living room with comfortable furnishings around the large woodburning stove. A separate dining room and an opening into the well equipped kitchen. Upstairs to the three bedrooms, 2 double and 1single room, a bathroom with shower over bath and a second WC. Secure Bike storage available in the garage.

Once you have booked the cottage owners will contact you to introduce themselves and provide contact details to use should you have any questions prior during or after your holiday. Whether its, questions about the property or about local activities etc they will be happy to help. Before your arrival you will be informed of the weekly key code for the cottage, this will allow you access to the key box upon your arrival day, when guests are able to check in anytime from 3pm. Check out on your day of departure is by 10 am. The cottage will be clean with fresh linen and towels so that you can relax and enjoy your holiday from the moment you step through the door.

Why can't I call Rachael (the owner) before booking?

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Rachael (the owner) a message.

If Rachael (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
