If you are looking for a nice retreat after stressful city-life the pure air and water at the junction of aegean and mediterranean seas, Datça peninsula is the place to be at. The town of Datça is one of the best reserved holiday towns in the whole of Turkey, no hotels, no beton walls, gorgeous bays, crystal clear sea, oxygen rich habitat and super healthy climate in the land of almonds and olive. A by-law protected region for wild life and nature and for archeology. The peninsula bears a tremendous historical treasure and has old greek villages and holy sites that deserve a visit. Not to mention the amazing pine tree woods at the altitudes and many blue flag beaches.
The apartment offered here is located in the holiday compound AKTUR. The compound was constructed in the late 70s on a impressively picturesque bay inside a pine tree wood away from any settlement. The houses or condos are mainly owned by turkish families from Istanbul or other big cities, that spend their summer at the seaside. The summer season in Turkey starts in the beginning of May and continues until the end of September, July and August being the most crowded times for all local and foreign holiday folks. In the much calmer spring and winter seasons you will have a more quiet stay close to nature. The place offers marketplace, groceries, pharmacy, doctors and cleaning service all year long. In Datça, which is a 30 minutes drive away, you will find all kinds of restaurants and a lovely town with a small harbor.
The lovely apartment consists of living area with open kitchen, two bedrooms, shower / toilet, TV, radio and air conditioning. It is about 70 square meters in size, including two terraces. The place is decorated tastefully and functional. The kitchen has a refrigerator, cooker, oven and dishwasher, washing machine, crockery and cutlery for up to 8 persons. The place is comfortable for 4 people but offers up to 6 sleeping places, with a convertible sofa for two.
The site surrounding offers a whole lot of activities. In the compound itself you can visit the beach, that offers sun chairs and parasols. In summer season you have restaurants, cafes and bars close to the promenade. You will be able to engage in all sorts of water sports like water skying, snorkeling and diving. And facilities for tennis, tabletennis, basketball and football do exist. And it is actually perfect for you runners, who can take early morning/late evening jogging in the woods. From Datça you can have boat trips around the island and to the nearby Greek islands Kos and Simi. In the summer season there are available ferry ride between Bodrum and Datça twice a day. The historic site of Knidos on the tip of the peninsula is a must see for visitors and offers a beautiful view on the sunset where the waters of mediterranean sea on aegean cost unite. The ancient greek town has a well preserved amphi theater and a harbor. In the off season the half island offers very inviting nature for walks in the mountainous area, leading to small villages or excursions to the rougher aegean coast line in the north.
The closest airport is in Dalaman, one and a half hours drive. There are options of renting a car, taking the bus or the fixed price taxi (is well worth checking out if you are a family or friend group and can fit in a combo). The other close airport is in Bodrum, from where you can go downtown take the ferry to Datca and then take a cab or public transportation to Aktur (this option relies on the availability of the ferry though, thus time of the year). I will be further assisting you about more info on Datça and Aktur and transportation.
