Eyjar offers high standard accommodation in East Iceland, located in Breiðdalur valley 80 km south of Egilsstaðir.
Eyjar was constructed in 2003 and occupies the site of the old farm steading. The main lodge is timber built and single storey. Inside there are eight twin-bedded rooms with en-suite shower facilities, and each bathroom has under-floor heating, and a television. From the main sitting/dining room guests enjoy spectacular views of the valley through the ceiling to floor windows or from the decked area outside. This room boasts a mag- nificent fireplace that adds extra atmosphere during the cooler evenings in winter, spring and autumn.
Other facilities enjoyed by guests are the sauna and a Jacuzzi. Free WiFi is accessible throughout the lodge.
The lodge is set on the western side of the lower Breiddalsa valley and surrounded by breathtaking scenery of jagged mountains and the sparkling ocean. It is just a ten-minute drive from the village of Breiddalsvik, and we?re very easy to find after turning off the Route 1 highway.
Eyjar is the ideal base from which to explore the surrounding area, or just sit back and relax in the beautiful peace of the valley. On offer locally is horse rid- ing, sea fishing, hiking and fishing for trout and char. Or why not book a 4WD safari with a local guide who will take you on mountain tracks into the wilder- ness and far from civilization.
The price is for groups wanting to have the Lodge for themselfes but is also possible to rent odd bedrooms upon further agreement.
