From the owner

Shifty Chicken Shack is a traditional Norwegian log cabin in the heart of the beautiful Snowdonia National Park. The cabin is in Trawsfynydd Holiday Village, a quiet, peaceful but well equipped site surrounded by woodland and open countryside. The cabin sleeps up to 5 people, and is available for weekly, monthly and short breaks from 1st December to 31st October every year. Cosy and fully furnished, it's a perfect base for exploring Snowdonia and North Wales. We're just a couple of miles from Coed y Brenin, and a bile shed can hold 2 bikes with ample space at the back. Some of the best mountain biking trails in Europe. The area is also well known for fishing, walking, wildlife and of course steam trains, as well as spectacular scenery.You can even bring your best friend - pets are welcome, you can bring up to 2 of them! The site has a shop, information centre, outdoor play area and an electric hub for car charging. Furnished with a retro twist you can even play some old vinyl on our record player! We do not have wifi at the property. There is wifi at the launderette and reception.We do leave an HMDI cable to tether to laptop and TV if you like yo watch Netflix. Newly refurbished record with bar space. More vintage bits and bobs added with a great collection of vinyl and dvds. Certificate of excellence three years in a row. Constantly upgrading this cabin Loads to do in the area with some of the best mountain views. Big secure deck with gates for enhanced safety for children and dogs. PLEASE DO NOT CHARGE YOUR CAR FROM OUR PROPERTY. IT WILL BE TAKEN FROM THE DAMAGE DEPOSIT AS WE JUST CAN'T AFFORD THE ELECTRICITY AND KEEP THE PRICES REASONABLE. THE CHARGING STATION IS AT RECEPTION AND ALSO AT TESCO IN PORTHMADOG. There is space in the bunk room for a cot or a camp bed if you need to accomodate up to 6 people/baby

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

If Deborah (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
