From the owner

We are a large budget accommodation facility in the shadow of Slemish mountain near the picturesque villages of Broughshane and Carnlough in Co Antrim.

We have a very flexible policy of providing for large or small groups with flexible pricing. Please speak to us about the size of your group and the length of the stay and we will work out an individual price for you. We have a large communal living space as well as a well equipped self catering kitchen available for guests. We also have a large function room which can be booked separately for parties or other functions.

Downstairs rooms are all ensuite, with one bedroom adapted for wheelchair users. Our upstairs dormitory holds 12 but we can be flexible with numbers if the need arises. There is ample parking facilities and outside space.

We are home to the Counties Antrim and Derry Country Fiddlers Association and regularly host music and cultural events

We have invested in renewable energy systems with a biomass underfloor heating system downstairs, a mechanical heat recovery system throughout, a turbine and solar panels.

Towels and a service laundry system are available on request for a small extra fee.

Interaction with guest

We live next to the Barn and operate an office in the building. We also at times have "barnminders" who live in and provide daily cleaning and reception functions. We operate as a most of the time hostel so are used to the provision being very sociable. We are very much "hands on" and like to get involved with guests by signposting activities and getting to know you. Gigi, our barnminder, is also very friendly.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.
