From the owner

Offering total privacy in the unique setting of the old walled garden of West Stow Hall, Gardener's Cottage is a charming base from which to explore the beautiful towns and countryside of Suffolk. With six acres of gardens, woods and paddocks of the Hall to explore and within walking distance of the king's Forest it is ideal for those wishing to ride, walk, fish, golf and enjoy the many country pursuits offered locally while Bury St Edmunds, Lavenham , Long Melford, Newmarket and Cambridge are all within easy reach as are Aldeburgh and Southwold making day trips to the coast an easy option. Local pubs offer good food whilst Bury St. Edmunds, a 15min drive, has a wide variety of restaurants.

Recently renovated to a high standard the cottage offers two double bedrooms, one with a king size bed, the other with twin, zip and link, beds. There is a family bathroom with shower over, a well equipped, eat- in kitchen with views over a paddock, and a large open plan living dinning room with French windows on to the sun trap garden.. As well as oil central heating and modern cooker, there is a solid fuel Rayburn in the kitchen and a wood burning stove in the sitting room. Comfortable settees and good quality furnishings make the cottage a very cosy home from home in all weathers and at all times of the year.

Dogs are welcome but please note that, as we are surrounded by fields occupied by mares and foals, they must remain on leads at all times when in the grounds. The cottage garden is secure, so it is fine for dogs to roam at will there. There is an extra cleaning charge of £25 payable in cash when here for pets and we do ask that guests let us know if they wish to bring a dog as we have one of our own and would like to prevent any issues.

Given the present circumstances I would like to assure guests that the cottage is being cleaned and sanitised to the highest standard and in accordance with government guidelines. When the weather has permitted, the windows have been left open to allow maximum ventilation for a minimum of three hours. Unfortunately we have had to remove cushions, throws and books that could not be easily cleaned.

Unfortunately to avoid cross contamination we now have to ask that on departure guests strip their beds and place the dirty linen and towels in the black bin bags provided.

It would also be helpful if all windows were opened and the key left on the kitchen table. Your help and understanding is much appreciated.

Interaction with guest

Andy and I own and live in the Hall so we are usually around if anything needs sorting or to offer advice but equally unless you need us we might only way to wave to each other when coming home or going out! Normally we would have personally welcomed guests but in the present circumstances we ask that guests inform us by text etc of their arrival. The cottage will be open with the key inside on the kitchen table so that it is always accessible no matter what time you arrive. However we will be at hand if there are any problems!
