The self catering holiday annex is a peaceful rural hideaway, an early 17th Century Grade 2 listed barn, quietly positioned in the village of Hessett on the edge of the beautiful and historical town of Bury St Edmunds. This traditional picturesque village offers a quiet and peaceful location, with easy access to local amenities and eating out. Bury St Edmunds just five miles away offers a faster pace of life with its popular historic markets, restaurants, bars and night-life. If you enjoy biking and walking there are many local pubs to walk or cycle to during your getaway.

You will have access to an EV charger for your electric vehicle if required, please message us regarding rates and more details.

The barn holiday annex offers privacy and space with a one bedroom, single-storey living accommodation with king size bed and the option of a single Jaybee-type bed or a baby/toddler cot to accommodate extra guests (children and babies). Said to be the best preserved in the country and considered of national significance dating around 1610, this sympathetically and recently converted barn offers a wealth of original features, furnished with a modern twist. Leading from the living room, double French doors open out onto the garden with table and chairs to enable you to dine al fresco. With plenty in the surrounding area to see and do during your stay, this is ideal for that perfect getaway.

Our guests enjoy cotton bed-linen and white fluffy towels for extra comfort and luxury. If you require a local supermarket delivery we can take delivery and unpack your groceries into the kitchen prior to your arrival if required.

The property is a beautiful and well established holiday accommodation. We love to communicate with our guests and share our knowledge of the local area if asked, but will equally leave you completely alone for a totally peaceful and private stay if that is what you need. We will provide some tea, coffee (and a nespresso coffee machine), juice and milk for your arrival and the kitchen is well stocked with salt, pepper, and other seasonings. We will also leave you with a little special holiday treat such as box of chocolates or biscuits.

Why can't I call Debbie (the owner) before booking?

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Debbie (the owner) a message.

If Debbie (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
