A short drive to Derrynane Beach rated by Tripadvisor as No 2 of the Top Ten Beaches in Ireland rivalling those anywhere in the World. It has achieved the highest standard in water quality, environmental management, safety and services. On the Wild Atlantic Way route where the whole area will captivate you with its wild landscape.

Fully equipped and furnished to a high standard. Gorteen has sea views from 4 rooms.

Families with small children find it particularly attractive that its fully equipped kitchen & dining area is connected to the sitting room by an arch style opening as it enables them to have a view of the children at all times.

The picturesque village of Caherdaniel with its charming pub 'The Blind Piper' which offers excellent food, traditional music and has a children's outside play area is a 20 minute walk.

Wheelchair users please note the following features about Gorteen.

• Access: Gorteen which is in an elevated location, is accessed from the main road up a steep hill and a wheelchair user would need a car to leave the property surrounds.The setting down point for vehicles at the front door has a dropped kerb and there are no steps in the property. Corridors and doors conform to the required width for easy passage..

Therefore it is suitable for exiting a car outside the front door unaided, entering through the front door and also for maneuvering within,i.e. rooms, kitchen, toilet etc.

• Bedrooms: All rooms including bedrooms are on the ground floor and are laid out in a way that is suitable for a wheelchair user and all main sockets, light switches, door handles are within reach of a seated position.

• Bathrooms: The en suite bathroom has a wheel-in (level access) entry to the shower . There is a fold-down shower seat. Taps and grab rails are accessible from a seated position. There is enough space to transfer from chair to toilet safely with appropriate handrails.

• Kitchen facilities: The kitchen has lowered worktops, sink and hob. Oven, microwave and fridge are at an accessible height.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

If Josephine (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
