“Mapoo Villa” is a newly constructed two bedroom vacation villa, high on the Eastern face of Carriacou's highest hill, known as High North. The villa boasts unparalleled views of the village below, the blue- green lagoon behind the white fringed reef, and the islands of Petite Martinique, Petit St. Vincent, Palm Island and the rest of the Grenadines stretching all the way to St. Vincent. On a moonlight night, when the moon rises above Petit Martinique and turns the sea golden, one can only marvel at the spectacular scene below. Plan your vacation for the full moon to enjoy this unimaginable experience.

This home is perfectly positioned to enjoy the constant, cooling, trade-winds, which makes air-conditioning completely unnecessary. With its expansive, hammock-equipped verandah, fully equipped modern kitchen, and thrice-weekly housekeeper/cook service, “Mapoo Villa” is a perfect place to which to escape, but comes with WiFi, TV (not cable) CD player and stereo.... and to enjoy all the tranquility that Carriacou has to offer.

Carriacou (pronounced 'Carry-a-Cou' and meaning Land of Reefs) is an undiscovered paradise, offering the perfect hideaway for those who want to escape the beaten tourist track and are looking for a different holiday experience. It has a natural beauty which adds to its appeal and has often been described by travel writers as an 'uncut diamond'… Visitors to this island gem tend to be well traveled and looking for a different world... and Carriacou does not disappoint.

At just 13 square miles and with a population of approximately 6,000 people, Carriacou is the largest and most Southern island in the Grenadines-- the small island chain between St Vincent and Grenada where some of the most exclusive ... and expensive.. island resort destinations in the world, including Mustique, Palm Island, Canouan and Petit St Vincent, the playgrounds of the rich and famous are scattered.

Mapoo Villa shares over one acre of fully fenced, gated and landscaped grounds with a one bedroom cottage-- Mapoo Cottage....which is also available for holiday rental. This unit is much smaller but shares the same glorious views and cooling breezes. It is ideal for a couple only. It is fully equipped also. Inquire if you are interested.

Although some visitors may seek to stay in or near the main town or a beach, islanders know that the town or beach is only 10 minutes away by bus, taxi or rental car for virtually anywhere, and that the view and cooling breezes on the hillsides are overwhelmingly more important and enjoyable.

Someone will meet you at the Villa to hand over the keys and show you around. We will give you the key for the safe and explain about the water system. The housekeeper (Included) is on property Monday, Wednesday and Friday unless one of the days is a public holiday. She is a wonderful cook and can guide your shopping and prepare local dishes if you wish. She can tell you a lot about Carriacou and things to do and where to shop. Enjoy.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of our Villa at Mapou Hill. You were kind enough not to mention it directly, but I wish to apologize once again for the unfortunate mix-up when you were not met as promised at the dock, and taken to the Villa. It was terribly embarrassing, and I thank you for being such a good sports about it. Your comment on the coffee-maker is noted and one will be installed very soon.....since the power supply is 220 volts we must find one that does not self-destruct when plugged in. Thank you for your comments on our dinner together. I also enjoyed the evening. I know you said you usually chose a new location each trip, but perhaps you may make an exception and return one day. Dear Elle, I am only now learning of my ability to respond online to reviews, and hasten, belatedly, to thank you for yours. Yes the steep driveway is a little daunting but I always hope it will be soon forgotten when one sees the magnificent view, as you say about the steps. As you know, Rhona, our Housekeeper, walks up to the house thrice weekly from the village below and it is perfectly safe to drive with an excellent concrete surface. I do now recommend car rental unless guests are fitness inclined.....but Taxi's are inexpensive, and will happily collect and return you after a trip onto town, or the beach, or dinner out. Why can't I call Trevor (the owner) before booking?

If you have any questions before booking, you can send the property owner/manager a message via the contact form on their listing. Once you’ve booked, you can discuss the rental and make arrangements for your trip by logging into Manage my booking.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Trevor (the owner) a message.

If Trevor (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
