From the owner

Grand Mauroux has been extensively renovated and has 6 ensuite bedrooms, 2 sitting rooms, dinning room and kitchen. The Mezzanine has facilities for snacks, coffee, cold drinks etc. Set in the countryside, yet close to Castillonnés, with it's weekly market, for all day to day requirements, there are large peaceful grounds to relax in with a glass of local wine or play boules or table tennis. There is also a pool to cool off in.( 33'x18'x4' )

Grand Mauroux is a wonderful centre for an interesting holiday; chateaux and vineyards ,Bastide towns, Kayaking on the Dordogne, golf, tennis, cycling, walking or swimming in either the local lake with a beach and amenities(7kms)or the new community pool(2 kms). It is on the circuit of Chateaux and Vineyards or only 1hour from the grotto's and caves. There is something for everyone in this beautiful friendly region.

Further details

Well behaved, sociable dogs are welcome( we have 2 friendly dogs, one is a Great Dane and the other a gordon setter , that are kept confined to our fenced part of the gardens).

Further details indoors

Stone steps lead to an imposing front door which opens to a large hallay with doors to the large dining room, the kitchen which has French doors to the garden and the two sitting rooms. Also on this floor are an en suite double bedroom and a downstairs loo and shower room. Lofty ceilings throughout and either tiles or oak floors, with loose carpets.

A staircase takes you up to the next floor which has a large landing with sets and bookcases, off which are five bedrooms all with en suite shower rooms and wcs - " 4 with a double and a single bed, one twin bedded. All these bedrooms and bathrooms are fitted with fly/mosquito screens on the windows.

All rooms have a wealth of lovely old beams and the high roof makes it very spacious; From the landing stairs go up to the mezzanine where there is a kitchenette, for coffee etc and snacks, with seating which overlooks the landing and all the enormous beams.

Further details outdoors

The house sits in 9 acres of grounds affording a variety of seating areas in shade or sun; Mostly mown grass, with a field and wood behind. A very tranquil haven with views of the the countryside and in the distance-Castillonnés.( only a 20minute gentle walk).
