From the owner

The Stables Cottage in the grounds of Fosse Farmhouse was converted from a former eighteenth century horse stables which was part of the famous Badminton Estate built in 1750 by the Duke of Beaufort. On the ground floor the original stone cobbles hay racks and beamed oak ceiling have all been retained. In the summer months guests can enjoy delicious Cream Teas served in the garden from the neighbouring Farmhouse.

There is plenty to do in the area for families and a large shared garden of half an acre for the children to enjoy. Opposite the property is a championship golf course that our guests can join as temporary members - subject to handicap and ground fees payable. Please enquire on booking.

The picturesque village of Castle Combe is a short walk across the valley and the ancient Roman Fosse Way - the oldest Roman Road in England is perfect for cycling,walking,and jogging and is just outside the front door. Stonehenge, Glastonbury, Avebury, Bath, Bristol, Longleat and the Cotswolds are popular sightseeing destinations nearby.

The property was recently filmed for a Japanese animation called 'Kiniro Mosaic' it is the home of the main character Alice Cartelet and her family.

    The stables at fosse farmhouse is a comfortable, if pricey, place to stay. Each bedroom has shower and toilet ensuite, the kitchen is well equipped and the living room has sofas and a large dining tab… More

    I first began Fosse Farmhouse B&B 30 years ago and since then I have converted three former farm buildings in the grounds into self catering Cottages - so what began as a hobby has grown into a successful business. I am absolutely delighted to have been able to independently provide accommodation in a such a beautiful part of the Cotswolds next to Castle Combe. The Stables Cottage was previously just that a Stables built by The Duke of Beaufort in 1750 who's country estate Badminton is 3 miles away.Every year the property is graded by Visit England and this year was granted 4 star Gold accreditation.Guests staying in the Stables cottage can pop next door to the Farmhouse and order anything from English Breakfast to cream teas which is all home made and most guests have enjoyed being able to do that. I totally understand that for your requirements you would have preferred a property that was totally private and in this situation the cottage that you rented did not fulfil your expectations. If I had known what you were looking for in advance I would have been happy to explain the situation in further detail however I was never given the opportunity to do so. I really want all guests to enjoy their holiday experience as it has to be suit your requirements rather than just having the available dates during the school holidays. Since your visit in 2015 we have had fast broadband access installed in our village which is a massive advantage and has made a huge difference. Kind regards Caron
