Originally erected in the mid-20th century and affectionately restored in 2016, this is an authentic, stone-built family house situated in a peaceful residential area of Chania.
Boasting a luscious private garden and parking, my home is reassuringly tacked away from the hustle and bustle of the town center and yet remains just a stone’s throw away from key local landmarks and destinations -20’ away from the airport, 12 ‘from the historic Venetian harbor, 3’ from the Regional Justice Manor and 11’ from the Souda port by car.
The building itself is composed of a spacious anteroom, a sunny living room holding a comfortable desk and a double sofa bed and a well-appointed Master bedroom offering a Queen sized bed, two bedside tables and a spacious fitted wardrobe. A second bedroom is adding two single beds that can effortlessly be turned into one King Size bed, a separate additional fitted wardrobe and a bedside table.
The fully renovated kitchen and bathroom offer a contemporary twist to the authentic Cretan experience as do the new mattresses and fresh linen provided.
An established architect myself, it is this marriage of old and new, modern and vintage, contemporary and traditional that I have followed as my inspiration and guiding principle while respectfully restoring the house to its former glory: Double glazed windows, top of the line air conditioning units for both bedrooms and the living room harmoniously combined with antique furniture and romantic nods to tradition in every detail.
Due to work commitments I am often traveling across Europe, Athens and Chania so a close family friend will welcome you and provide any assistance you might need in case I am not there.
I spent the lazy summers of my formative childhood years playing hide and seek in this garden. I hold fond memories of family gatherings in this kitchen, the aromatic scents of my grandmother’s cooking wafting heartrendingly up the neighborhood’s alleyways. I have gazed at the sunlight gently filtering through my bedroom windows following teenage sleepovers with would-be lifelong friends. And I have found peace, relaxing under the spell of the symphony of crickets serenading us hypnotically in the background.
