A peaceful retreat in scenic surroundings
Fully furnished and tastefully decorated 125 m² two-bedroom house in modern Thai style. The spacious combined kitchen-dining-living room on the ground floor has direct access to a large 50 m² terrace with garden/mountain views – the ideal spot for those long and lazy breakfasts. The large 1000 m² well-kept garden has flowers, palms, bamboo trees, and fruit trees and provides both shadow and privacy. There is also a second, smaller 25 m² terrace offering shadow in the afternoon when you’ve perhaps had enough sun for the day. Both terraces have tiled floors and outdoor furniture.
The living room is equipped with AC, has a dining area seating six people and a seating area with an angled sofa, coffee-table, television and DVD player. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering with fridge/freezer, stove and ceramic cooktop, as well as plates, glasses and cutlery.
The ground floor master bedroom has direct access to the garden. The second bedroom is on first floor, and sliding glass doors open to a balcony offering lovely mountain and sunset views. Both bedrooms are equipped with wardrobe, AC, sun-block curtains and king-size double bed and have adjoining bathrooms with tiled floors and walls, shower, washbasin and toilet. A set of bed linen and towels is included.
All rooms have tiled floors and ceiling spotlights with dimmers. Naturally, the terraces and balcony have lighting as well. The sliding doors are also equipped with sliding mosquito nets, if you prefer natural airing to the AC.
The estate
The house is one of the 21 villas in the Swedish-Thai run Soi Dao Hill Resort. The resort has a common infinity pool, with shower and sun-chairs.
The easy-going English/Scandinavian/Thai-speaking staff hired by the association are knowledgeable and helpful and make you feel instantly at home. Soi Dao Hill Resort is the only expat resort in the area.
Surroundings
Soi Dao Hill is a genuine Thai village located about ten minute by tuc-tuc from the resort. Here on can find 7/11, Tesco and other shops as well as a lively market every Wednesday.
The resort is located in the Soi Dao Highlands, a beautiful hill area close to the Cambodian border and nearby a nature reserve with rainforest, waterfalls and wildlife sanctuary. The location offers a combination of quiet, unexploited getting-away-from-it-all living, and a range of activities within easy reach. Soi Dao village with food market, shops, pharmacy, bank and restaurants is a five-minute tuc-tuc ride away.
The Cambodian border with its lively and colourful border market is just a few km away, as is the beautiful Soi Dao Highland 18 hole golf course, one of the best in Thailand. River rafting can be experienced 35 km away at Khlong Pong Nam Ron.
An hour’s car ride (70 km) takes you to the province capital Chanthaburi with a good selection of shops and a famous Gem Market (all weekends), alternatively to the excellent, unexploited Laem Sing beach with the Oasis Sea World, offering among other things the opportunity to swim with dolphins. The beautiful and still only moderately exploited Koh Chang island is 140 km away and can be reached in 2-3 hours by car/ferry. The not-to-be-missed World Heritage site of Angkor Vat in Cambodia is 300 km away.
Transfer
Distance to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi airport is 300 km, while Trat domestic airport is 120 km away. Taxi transfer from Bangkok takes about three hours and costs around THB 3000.
