Spicy Villa Eco-Lodges are a mountain get away for those who want to escape the tourist crowds and enjoy the pristine northern Thai countryside and a laid back way of life.
At our bungalows you can sit back and watch as the morning mists rise above the mountains, swim in our eco swimming pool, or participate in a wide range of activities, we offer in the area.
All of the activities are aimed at giving you a broader knowledge of the area and traditional way of life.
We offer:
- treks over paddy fields, where you learn about traditional agriculture techniques and can even try yourself at planting rice!
- treks in the jungle with visits to local waterfalls and cooking jungle style - in bamboo stems over the fire
- cycling in the countryside
- cooking classes, where you learn to prepare traditional Thai dishes
- visits to Karen village to learn about the culture and life style of this local minority, you can have a home stay with the villagers or even try yourself at Karen weaving
- rafting on hand-made bamboo rafts
- bareback elephant riding and bathing elephants in the river
- bungalows are also a great setting if you want to do yoga and meditation.
There is an organic farm on our property and it's constantly expanding, just recently we have planted over 200 pineapples!
Vegetables, fruit, herbs and spices are all grown completely naturally in line with traditional farming techniques of the area. We use them when preparing meals for our guests.
Our main responsibility is giving back to the community. All our staff is from local Karen villages and has a great knowledge of the area. We pay them fairly, to help their community and they are happy to work for us.
A part of our proceedings goes to our community project "Share the Dream Project" which we set up to help local villagers, we teach English to local Karen children and offer medical assistance to hill tribe minorities.
We have 5 private bungalows, each is suitable for 2 guests. They are basic and simple, but spacious and clean. Each has a private bathroom.
We also have 2 family bungalows which consist of two adjoining rooms and a bathroom and are suitable for up to 4 guests.
The hot water in our shower is dependent on how much solar energy we receive from the sun on each day. So… it is possible that during your stay, you might be having a cold shower! Good to remember that this is refreshing, good for your skin, general vitality, and health : )
We have limited WiFi available when needed. Please inform a staff member if you require access.
Breakfast is provided during your stay here at the bungalows. It will be prepared for you in the kitchen in the morning.
Lunch will be two Thai dishes, and dinner will be at least three. All the vegetables served are grown in this region, and meals are served with fresh seasonal fruit.
You can help yourself to drinks, just sign your name on the paper near the cooler and mark each drink you take out on it. Tally how many and pay at the end of your stay.
There is no public transportation available to Spicy Villa Eco-Lodges, but we do offer private transportation from anywhere in Chiang Mai.
We are located approximately 1,5 hr drive from Chiang Mai city and if you have your own transportation, it is best to contact us for detailed instruction on how to reach us.
