Description from owner

Description

Amazing location, ideal for a relaxing break in the Cotswolds. Family house (not a holiday chalet) in the middle of Cleeve Common, with gardens and fantastic views over historic, Regency Cheltenham Spa.

Sleeps 7 people easily in 3 double bedrooms and one single. (Additional adults and children may be accommodated by arrangement - please ask). Recently refurbished and well maintained; pets welcome too!

The Cotswold Way passes across Cleeve Common which offers excellent walking, mountain-biking, horse riding or golfing. Cheltenham town centre is 12 minutes by car from the house. Bus service as well as hotels and restaurants/bars are a short walk/drive across the common.

Cleeve Hill makes a perfect base for a visit to a wide range of places – anywhere in the Cotswolds such as Cirencester, Stow on the Wold or Bourton on the Water as well as day trips to Oxford, Stratford on Avon, Bristol, Worcester or Birmingham (all of which are about an hour away using the M5 motorway or Wales, about 1 1/2 hours).

Would suit large family group up to 10 adults/children (5/6 adults, without sharing bedrooms). There is an emperor size (7' x 7') bed in the master bedroom and Super-king size double beds in the other two double bedrooms. Twin beds can be arranged for the two smaller double bedrooms if preferred. Travel cot available. The master bedroom has en-suite facilities while the other bedrooms share a family bathroom. There is a further cloakroom at the bottom of the stairs.

Ground floor (wood floors throughout)

Fully equipped kitchen with a mixture of traditional painted wood cupboards (around the Aga) and modern units and kitchen table (seats 4). Oil-fired Aga (winter only) and French doors to rear garden and seating area. Open plan dining/breakfast room with table and chairs for 8 people and views front and rear.

Large comfortable sitting room (approx 6 metres x 5 metres) with stone fire place and open wood burning fire. Seating for up to 12 people - 2 sofas, 2 armchairs plus additional chairs and leather footstools. Large plasma flat screen TV with satellite TV and DVD player. Wifi throughout.

Separate library/small sitting room with wood-burning stove. There is double sofa bed in this room; however, the downstairs toilet and washing facilities are at the opposite end of the house.

Cloakroom with toilet and sink off the entrance hall .

Upstairs (all 4 bedrooms are carpeted)

Master bedroom (approx 6 metres by 5 metres), double height ceiling, French doors and large en-suite with spacious shower.

2 further double bedrooms and one (small) single room, all with wardrobes, chests of drawers and bedside tables.

Family bathroom with full size roll-top bath and separate shower.

Outside

The house is set in its own gardens and there is parking for up to 3 cars at the front. Please note access is across the common via a track which can be negotiated by any vehicle, provided taken slowly. However, if your car is very “low-slung”, a vehicle for crossing the common can be made available by arrangement.

The property is let with all facilities including 62” Plasma TV with satellite signal, DVD player, free wi-fi, oil-fired AGA (in winter) and central heating, Siemens microwave/traditional cooker and grill, separate single traditional oven, ceramic hob, washing machine and dishwasher and fridge/ freezer and second fridge.

Other

Pets are welcome by arrangement but smoking is not allowed.

The property is fed with spring-water.

We are happy to consider short breaks but give preference to people booking a full week, especially in weeks which include a bank holiday.

“A fabulous away from it all place, which is actually not far away at all!”

Reviewed 15 Apr 2018

We had a brilliant week with our children and grandchildren. The location is magical with the hills and common just outside the front door, enticing us all out to walk and scramble about. The garden is huge and fun to explore, with lovely furniture, but unfortunately we couldn't make use of it as the weather didn't allow it. The house is large and comfortable and we enjoyed spending time in it - we loved the Aga to cook on and dry off our rainy clothes. Comfy beds, lots of space, well equipped kitchen and living areas - all we could ask for and more. Thank you Lynda for such a wonderful holiday home.

“Excellent”

The photos don't do this place justice. It was a beautiful spacious cottage in the countryside, perfect for a large gathering. Well equipped kitchen. Lots of seating space in dining and lounge areas. Surpassed our expectations. Excellent value for money.

“Outstanding property”

Reviewed 11 Aug 2016

A wonderful place to stay. Spacious, comfortable, generously equipped. There were 7 of us and we used all 5 bedrooms (the study behind the sitting room also has an excellent bed). The kitchen was superb and the views wonderful. We have stayed in many places in and around Cheltenham, and this is undoubtedly number 1! Don't be put off by the approach track which is windy and quite rough - just take care and you will be rewarded.

Response from the owner Glad you enjoyed your stay. Hope you will be able to return sometime. Lynda
