West Croft Holiday Cottages comprises 3 cottages recently converted from a Grade II listed barn. If all three cottages are rented, the accommodation can cater for up to 14 guests.

The Saddlery can sleep four guests in double and a twin bedrooms. The cottage has been sympathetically converted to provide an open plan living area with dining table and chairs and a wood burning stove is the focal point of this room. The kitchen is well equipped and there is a separate utility room

West Croft Holiday Cottages can be found in the unspoilt Cumbrian village of Brigham, just outside the Lake District National Park, 2 miles from the market town of Cockermouth. It is an ideal base from which to explore the quieter lakes and mountains of The National Park, and take in the attractions of the increasingly popular Solway Coast and West Cumbrian coastal towns and villages.

All our cottages have been given a 4 star grading on our first inspection by the English Tourism Council.

Each cottage has its own parking space and a patio area with tables and chairs in the courtyard in front of the property.
Barbecues are available for use.
The cottages all have the use of a traditional games room that includes a full size snooker table, table football and family games.
The village has a children’s playing field with play-park nearby.

Cottage (the saddlery) itself with its features is lovely but had issues with cleanliness. Not major but needs more attention. Nice touch with the box of chocolates left on arrival. Owner very polite. Bedroom with 3 beds was very dusty. Mattress protectors had hairs all over them and were ripped beyond use. Suggest getting new ones. No pillow protectors on all pillows only on one bed. Pillows all stained and marked. Shower had all black mould all over tiles and had to be bleached before using it. Had to clean toilet seat as it had excrement from not being cleaned before we got there. Lots of food and dust etc in living area especially behind tv stand so again had to be hoovered. Oven was filthy and glass door couldn’t be seen through so couldn’t be used. Kitchen floor tiles took 3 buckets of water to mop clean, bearing in mind the mop was bone dry when we got there so floors clearly had not been mopped that day as mentioned from the owner. Lovely area where cottage is situated and central to lots of lovely places to visit but cottage itself needs attention with cleaning then would be a nice play to stay without having to be cleaned whilst supposedly going away to relax

“Good location for north Lakes”

Quiet location in courtyard style off main road. Limited parking if more than 1 vehicle. Facilities basic but adequate. Games room was a bonus to keep ternage boys amused. No local pub, and limited dog walking in local area. Cockermouth is a lovely market town 5 minutes drive away. We had a lovely day at the Cockermouth show. The accommodation would benefit from the provision of guest information/reviews and travellers tips rather than a few leaflets left in a drawer. Lakes distillery worth a visit.

Our cottages each have a parking space and we are lucky that we have plenty of extra parking for our guests who have more than 1 car at the end of our lane. We are in the process of updating our welcome folder (our apologies!) and in the meantime we are emailing all our guests a list of things to do with web links to attractions along with a list of pubs and restaurants. We will make sure that we include some dog walks from the cottages in our new folder. We love the Lakes Distillery and we have arranged an offer pack with them that gives our guests some special discount vouchers (each guest will find the offer pack in our cottage on arrival). We thoroughly recommend the mid week offer of afternoon tea, which is 2 for the price of 1, and if you can eat it all well done! Best regards Mark

“Cosy, spotlessly clean, so comfortable and peaceful”

A 5 day break in midwinter, slight delay in setting up heating efficiently remedied with quick phone call. This cottage is set in a quiet courtyard, our dogs were quickly settled in the entry utility at the front dood, and adored the log burner we lit each evening. All furnishings are clean and comfortable, including lounge furnishings beds etc The cottage is just so cosy with the central heating and the benefit of a warm bathroom and full size bath with shower. We are unexpectedly pleased that there was good wi fi connection. Kitchen has all utensils, including freezer large enough to store ready meals etc Booking really efficient and helpful.,with tips on walks/pubs etc Thankyou!

I stayed at the Saddlery in September, and have stayed here a few times previously. It is a little haven, with all the facilities that you need for comfort and relaxation. No detail missed. Clean and well maintained, at all times. Very tranquil surroundings, close to the amazing sights of Crummock Water and Buttermere. With quaint Cockermouth on your door step, and Wordsworth house. Close to many walking sights and nature reserves. A little paradise, for everyone!! Any time of the year. Michele
