A romantic cottage for 2 people, in beautiful countryside with lovely views across the Solway Firth to Scotland. Great walking and cycling country and close to stunning beaches. Character cottage newly renovated in 2016 with private garden. A welcome pack of home made and local produce is included. Well behaved dogs welcome! Close to village pub (approx 1 mile away) . Fishing nearby and Arkleby leisure pool with sauna and hot tub 1 minute away. Approx 6 miles from Cockermouth. Home deliveries are possible from the Sainsburys in Cockermouth or Iceland, Asda or Tesco branches in Workington. This cottage will appeal to those wanting a peaceful holiday in the country. This is an area which is relatively undiscovered so you will not encounter the high numbers of tourists found in some of the Lake District hotspots. A car is essential, but within easy driving distance, is the wonderful scenery of the north lakes (our nearest lake is Bassenthwaite) and within approx 20 minutes drive you have Ullswater, Crummock Water and Buttermere. The towns of Cockermouth and Keswick and the City of Carlisle are all within easy driving distance. We are about 10 minutes drive to the beautiful but deserted Solway coast.The cottage has a lounge/diner (15'6" X 11'6") ,with Log Burner and the addition of a "Smart" LG TV,for Netflix and the like, Free Wifi is available. A well equipped kitchen (7'6" X 8' ) and fully tiled shower room with enclosed newly fitted double shower, WC and hand basin (9' X 3'9") all on the ground floor. A generous sized bedroom (15'6" X 12'6") with beamed ceiling and exposed stone wall upstairs. As this is a traditional rural cottage we have furnished it in a traditional way. The stairs are VERY steep, as space is limited in this 1748 built cottage, so is NOT suitable for people with mobility difficulties . There is a private garden to the front with lovely views and a secluded dog proof rear area, also with good views!

Parking is in the lay-by just past the cottage, which can be busy at times.

We are happy to consider breaks from 2 nights upwards and are very flexible regarding changeover days. The cottage adjoins our house and you can be assured of a warm welcome on arrival and total privacy and seclusion during your stay.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Christine Chris (the owner) a message.

If Christine Chris (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
