This unique place offers open-plan, spacious living with views of the famous Skiddaw mountain from all of the main bedrooms and living areas. It is a great space for families with most of the living/bedrooms all on the same floor. In addition to this, there is a separate recreation area downstairs which can be used as a quiet space or as a children's play area. Here there is also a DVD player and screen with a selection of children's DVDs and a large sofa. The 3 main bedrooms and the living area all overlook the delightful rear garden where the tranquil surrounds can be enjoyed from the outside seating area provided.

Entrance to the house is via the front door located up the stairs however, a side entrance is available on the left-hand side of the house which allows convenient access to the utility area when returning from muddy walks etc.

Amenities include a dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, microwave and WI FI which are all free to use and there is a jacuzzi bath in one of the three bathrooms to relax in after a long days activities. There are also two electric showers and a large bathtub present in the other bath/shower rooms and a sink/vanity area in the master bedroom.

There are 4 bedrooms. The master bedroom has a king sized bed, large wardrobe, chest of drawers, bedside tables and lamps and sink/vanity area. There is ample room for a travel cot (or 2) or other. There are also 2 good sized twin rooms each with a wardrobe, chest of drawers/clothing storage, bed side table and lamp. There is a fourth bedroom downstairs. This has a single day bed. Under the day bed is another single bed on a trundle. This can be pulled out to make the downstairs bedroom also into a twin room (which we will have ready if 8 people are booked). However please note that it is less spacious than the other bedrooms in the house (see photo). This room also has a wardrobe and bedside table/lamp.

All linen, pillows and duvets are provided. These are washed and pressed at the end of each guests stay. Cost for this is included in the 'cleaning fee'. Please bring any children's linen for the travel cot or any children's waterproof mattress protectors.

We have a young family of our own and therefore appreciate not having to pack every last child-related item when going away on holiday. Therefore, a high chair, travel cot, stairgate, plastic bowls, plates, cups, cutlery, beakers and bibs are provided. There is also a potty and step in the cupboard in the jacuzzi bathroom and games/toys available downstairs in the children's area for family fun and rainy days.

Location description from owner

The England region

Setmurthy is a tiny hamlet located in the picturesque and quieter northern lakes. How Dyke is a 30 minute walk from Bassenthwaite lake where you can swim, skim stones or sail. There are plenty of shallow shores where little people can splash and paddle in safety. There is a highly regarded sailing club situated on the northern shore of Bassenthwaite lake.

There are endless footpaths in the area including many of the famous Wainwrights and fantastic off-road cycling trails at Setmurthy woods (car 2 mins) and Whinlatter (car 10 mins).

The locally famous "Pheasant Inn" is a 5 min car journey/short cycle ride away which provides a friendly place to get a meal or a drink. The "Castle Inn" is 2 minutes away by car where there is a swimming pool

Cockermouth

Absolutely stunning.

Peaceful, tranquil and perfect for a rest or an extreme adventure outside-you choose!

You can walk to the Lakes distillery, Bassenthwaite Lake, River Derwent and the famous Setmurthy Woods from the doorstep. A longer walk takes you to the Pheasant Inn.

A short hop in the car takes you into lovely Cockermouth and Keswick and all its attractions are only 10-15 minutes in the car.

“Perfect”

Reviewed 25 Jan 2017

We are a group of student who came all the way from Cardiff to stay in this property in yhe Lake District, the place was so amazing that we enjoyed every moment of our stay here. Everything was available, asda and tesco were 30 mints away, the city of cockermouth was just a 10 mints drive and we could find what we wanted and having a halal resturant in town for Muslims. It was such an amazing experience and definitly visiting again soon

So pleased you had a good time. You are welcome again. Shelley
