Set in the heart of the Cognac region and surrounded on all sides by the vines of the Grande Champagne, this former cognac distillery offers you the highest standard of accommodation and service. Otard is one of 4 gites on site. Each gite is independent and has a private terrace whilst sharing the wonderful landscaped gardens, BBQ areas, parkland, pool and gamesroom. Each property has an individual style and retains a wealth of original features such as exposed beams and stonework. The properties sleeping 8, 6, 4 and 2 can be rented individually or together making this the perfect venue for families, special interest groups, friends and couples. All the properties are insulated, double glazed and heated for those off season stays.

The gite Otard has been created from an old cognac storage barn. Built into the walls of the courtyard surrounding the swimming pool the property has a wonderful double aspect. Enter through the patio doors overlooking the pool and then move through to the living area with the magnificent vistas over the parkland and vines beyond. The patio area to the rear ensures that Otard guests have seclusion and privacy making this the perfect hideaway. ( Please note that because entrance to the property is through the secure pool courtyard the property is not suitable for children under the age of 12 ).

Inside the property the original beauty of the building has been retained with exposed stone walls and sloping ceilings whilst providing comfortable accommodation. Unlike many rental properties for couples, the gite has properly defined rooms and full facilities. There is a large double bedroom. Leading from the bedroom is the spacious bathroom with shower cubicle, washbasin and toilet. To the rear of the property is a single large room incorporating the the lounge, dining table and modern kitchen. The gite is on a single level and has a number of features such as wider internal doors, electric reclining/standing armchairs etc which means that it is more than suitable for people with restricted mobility.

The gentle rolling countryside of this area is perfect for cycling and walking and the beautiful Charente river provides plenty of opportunities to enjoy the water be it for a gentle boat cruise or an afternoon's kayaking. How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

If Valerie (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
