Set in its own grounds and surrounded by stunning countryside the Marronnier is a beautiful old barn in a private secluded setting, tucked away at the back of a tiny hamlet away from the quiet lane. It has been lovingly renovated retaining all its old features, stone work and oak beams, it oozes character. With 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms this property offers accommodation for up to 8 people. With exposed beams and a kingsize 4 poster bed in the master bedroom with views across the countryside it is a delightful place to wake up in the morning.

The whole property is furnished to a very high standard. The kitchen is a well equipped fitted kitchen overlooking the courtyard. With its large range cooker as well as wood burning Rayburn it is a real French country kitchen. The large picture window, with its stone features, over looks the walled garden and swimming pool. Formerly parking for the tractor, the lounge and dining area, are light and airy, with patio doors onto the large terrace.

Beautiful salt water swimming pool, (*solar heated pool) walled gardens, large terrace, wonderful courtyard, covered gazabos, decking alongside the pool, plenty of outdoor seating, sun loungers, tables and chairs the Marronnier is as beautiful outside as it is in.

Just 10m across the courtyard is my 2 bedroom cottage (sleeping 4)available for additional accommodation if you are over 8 in your group. (it is not rented separately, if not used it is empty during your stay)

Come and sit out on the terrace, dine alfresco and take in the peaceful pace of life here in this idyllic part of France.

Its an ideal base to explore the many local tourist sites. Countryside lovers will appreciate the peace and tranquility this area offers. There are many walking and cycling tracks to explore. Local rivers to picnic next to, châteaux to visit, restaurants to savour the gourmet delights this regions is reknown for, famous caves to visit, markets to discover, ..............................the list goes on.

Golf lovers will be pleased to hear that the Perigueux 18 hole course is just 30 min drive away and a 9 hole at nearby Excideuil.

There is also the possibility to rent my 2 bedroom cottage that is 10m across the courtyard from the main house. Please note the cottage is NOT rented separately, it is empty if not rented.

Formerly an old Truffle Farm, female pigs "Truies" were used to seek out the "black gold" truffle that the Perigord is so famous for. The barn was used to house the "Truies", and the attached little barn was were they cooked up the pig food. With hundreds of kilos of truffles found each year actually on the property of Le Marronnier it is a shame that those quantities are not found anymore !

The barn with its lovely stonework retains its character with "pierre apparent" throughout the property. With the old oak beams exposed it oozes character and charm.
Renovated to a high standard and finished with quality fixtures and fittings the Marronnier offers top quality accommodation.
The solid wooden dining table and leather covered chairs look out onto the terrace through the patio doors. Sit in the quality comfortable leather sofas imported from Italy and appreciate the view through the picture window to the walled garden and swimming pool.
The downstairs shower room with its overhead shower and pebble shower tray is spacious and airy. There is also a downstairs toilet, and basin.
Upstairs was the old hay loft and has now been transformed.
The hand crafted oak staircase is a prominent feature of the lounge and leads to the 4 bedrooms.
The master bedroom has a kingsize four poster wooden bed, oak wardrobe, easy chairs, table and drawers. Being at the gable end there are views over the courtyard, fields and rear garden. With is "pierre apparent", high ceiling and exposed beams this bedroom offers total comfort. The en suite bathroom has roll top bath with claw feet, situated against the stone wall and below the window, making it a perfect place to relax after a hard days sunbathing!
The double bedroom at the other gable end of the barn offers views over the swimming pool and walled garden. It has a wooden double bed, quality furnishing and fittings as well as a en suite shower room.
The third bedroom has a metal Napoleon bed frame, and is a one and a half bed size (small double) and a single bed, with traditional pine furnishings .
The smaller fourth twin bedroom over looks the courtyard and has one of the original barn windows that the hay was lifted through to store in the "grenier".

Large courtyard at the front of the house with the shady Marronnier tree and tables and chairs for sitting and eating breakfast in the seclusion of the courtyard in the gentle morning sun.
The walled garden to the rear is grassed and with access to the patio for dining in the evening. Listening to the birdsong and enjoying the evening balmy evenings dining alfresco on the terrace.
The swimming pool is nestled in the original "potager", retaining all the character the garden offers with its stone walls.
*Solar Heated Swimming Pool. The pool will be heated from May till September. There is decking beside the pool and sun loungers for relaxing and sunbathing in the peaceful setting.
There are fruit trees of peaches, plums and cherries. Sit on the decking beside the pool under the shade of the peach trees.
The second half of the walled garden has been transformed to resemble a traditional french garden, with its raised beds, espalier fruit trees against the stone walls and a sweeping path of lavender around the top side of the pool.

Wow..... Je dois répondre à cette critique car il est évident que les critiques négatives sont la première chose que les futurs clients lisent. Je suis désolé d'apprendre que VOUS avez été si déçu de vos vacances. Je tiens également à souligner qu'à aucun moment pendant ou après les vacances, le client qui a fait cette réservation ne m'a contacté pour me dire qu'il n'avait pas apprécié ses vacances. La personne qui a laissé cet avis est un membre de la famille qui a laissé cet avis 7 mois après ses vacances ! De plus, la réservation a été faite via un site français et non via un site lié à Tripadvisor. Plusieurs inexactitudes qui doivent être corrigées. Premièrement, vous n'êtes pas resté 15 jours ! Le temps pendant vos vacances était hors saison et atroce. Des températures de 18-19 degrés en août, c'est presque du jamais vu. Mais c'est quelque chose hors de mon contrôle. (En 2022, les températures étaient de 40 degrés !) Donc oui, je suis sûr que la piscine était un peu froide pour s'y baigner. Aucune piscine extérieure ne peut atteindre 26 degrés dans ces conditions extrêmes. Cependant, le jacuzzi à 36+ degrés était là et vous l'avez utilisé. En ce qui concerne les vieux appareils, je remplace les choses quand elles sont nécessaires, qui jette un micro-ondes parce que VOUS pensez qu'il a l'air vieux ? Quelle société gaspilleuse ce serait. On m'a envoyé un message disant que le grille-pain ne fonctionnait pas, j'en ai acheté un nouveau pour vous, même s'il y avait un deuxième grille-pain dans le cottage, et qu'il y a un grill dans le grand four. Je n'annonce pas que j'ai un sèche-linge. La porte du patio/baie vitrée n'était pas HS pendant votre séjour, êtes-vous en train de me dire que pendant tout votre séjour vous avez marché de la porte d'entrée au patio arrière tout le temps ? Une machine à café ne suffit-elle pas pour une seule propriété ? Évier de cuisine bouché - cela s'est produit le 10e jour de votre séjour. J'ai reçu un message après 21 heures et un plombier est venu le lendemain après-midi. J'ai tous les SMS qui le prouvent. Nous avons un calcaire dur dans notre région, et nous devons régulièrement détartrer les robinets/douches et les bouilloires. Donc malheureusement le calcaire apparaît régulièrement et l'aurait fait pendant votre séjour, mais n'aurait pas empêché les douches de fonctionner. "Refus de vous donner des draps propres à la fin d'une semaine", je propose des vacances en self-catering, 2 machines à laver étaient disponibles pour votre groupe, une dans chaque propriété. Je ne propose pas de “Maid Service”. Ça m'a fait sourire que vous mentionniez la note sous le matelas. Donc vous étiez en train de déplacer ou de tourner le matelas ? car c'est la seule raison pour laquelle vous auriez remarqué le papier. Dire que je n'ai jamais rencontré votre groupe lors de votre départ est un mensonge flagrant ! J'étais là plusieurs fois pendant vos vacances pour nettoyer la piscine (et apporter le nouveau grille-pain). Pas une seule fois VOUS ne m'avez abordé, mais j'ai discuté avec la personne qui a fait la réservation et le fils le jour du départ pendant que je nettoyais encore la piscine et que le reste du groupe chargeait la voiture ! Il y a toujours deux côtés à chaque histoire. Mais il est vrai que vous et moi n'avons pas eu le plaisir de nous rencontrer. Mais je suis désolé d'entendre 7 mois plus tard que VOUS n'avez pas apprécié VOS vacances. Depuis des années, j'aime entendre comment les clients ont apprécié leurs vacances. Je continuerai à offrir à tous mes clients une expérience de location de vacances de qualité et à apporter des améliorations chaque année. Nous étions complets en 2022 avec des clients heureux. (Je viens seulement de voir ce commentaire, d'où ma réponse tardive.)

How do damage deposits work?
