A traditional Crail fisherman's house perched just above the most photographed harbour in Scotland, 19 Shoregate is a coastal retreat bursting with character. This quirky, historical property offers stunning views over the harbour and out to the Firth of Forth.

The ground floor encompasses the main living spaces, including a kitchen/diner with a large dining table, TV lounge, and large conservatory or ‘sun room', retaining many of its original features including internal exposed brickwork. The back door leads to a private, enclosed rear garden where you can access the annex, which is equipped with a double bed and en-suite shower room.

There is a master bathroom with a shower over bath set across the first floor, including three further bedrooms; a super king or twin, a double and a twin.

The second-floor compromises of the remaining two bedrooms; a single and a double. There is an additional bathroom on this floor also.

The private, fully enclosed rear garden and patio area can be accessed via the conservatory and provides the perfect space to enjoy the sunshine and fresh, coastal air.

Crail harbour and the Fife Coastal Path is less than a minutes' walk away, as is the famous Lobster shack. Crail high street is just a minutes' walk away in the opposite direction, where you can find all the local shops, cafes, and restaurants. The historic town of St Andrews is a 15 minute, scenic drive along the coast.

19 Shoregate is set over two levels, and briefly compromises of:

We really appreciate you as guests, taking the time to provide in depth feedback following your visit, as this enables us to understand any pain points and to make necessary adjustments to ensure our guests’ experiences continue to improve. On a personal level, I would like to apologise that you were left feeling let down and frustrated by the condition of the property. I understand you booked the property for your mum’s birthday, so I hope your experience didn’t impact the celebrations. We provide a digital guide 8 days prior to your booking that includes instructions for the heating, WIFI, etc. We also have a information book in the property for those who aren’t able to access the online guide. With there being a significant dip in temperature, I hate to have thought you were cold in the property during your stay. Please note we have 24 hour emergency phone number, and had we been aware of any issues during your stay, we would have actioned this as a matter of urgency. We have a great cleaning team based in Crail, who receive positive feedback regularly, so I am surprised to hear your experienced cleaning issues during your stay. Please be rest assured, that we are just as disappointed and intend to discuss this at length with the cleaning company regarding the specific cleaning issues you raised. Whilst we are self-catering, we do supply a starter pack inclusive of 1 toilet roll per bathroom, bar of soap for each bathroom, mini shower gel per person, a kitchen essentials including dishwashing soap, a few dishwasher tablets, dishcloths, tea towels, washing up sponge and a spare bin bag. On our listings, we note what we provide, so guests can decide what they need to bring/buy ahead of arrival. Whilst 19 Shoregate is a great property, we have tried to price the property accordingly and feel £146.10 per person for a 3 night stay, is a fair price in line with other properties and offerings in the area. Regarding the windows, we have a professional window cleaner who attends the property monthly. Due to the bad weather, unfortunately it has been trickier to ensure the windows are kept clean. Our main objective is to ensure our guests have an excellent experience, so I do hope this provides come clarity on the points you have kindly highlighted. Kindest regards Kingask

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

If the property manager agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
