From the owner

Cowbeach Cottage is Grade II listed and has been lovingly restored to a high standard. It features a wealth of old oak beams and an inglenook fireplace with a cosy wood burning stove. It is tastefully decorated throughout to provide a relaxing space. The bespoke oak staircase leads to a beautiful vaulted bedroom with views across the Kent countryside. The cottage benefits from a private south facing garden and patio. It is ideally situated to explore the many National Trust properties close by.

Cowbeach Cottage is a delightful place to stay, whether you wish to explore the many tourist attractions that the area has to offer, take advantage of the local footpaths, one of which leads directly from our field, along the River Rother to Bodiam Castle, or simply wish to relax. The beautiful long sandy beaches at Camber Sands and the quaint Cinque Port town of Rye with its cobbled streets and many eateries are a short drive away. However you choose to spend your day, you can be sure of an enjoyable stay at the cottage. Relax on the comfortable sofa in front of the cosy wood burning stove, prepare a meal in the fully fitted modern kitchen, including electric oven and hob, microwave, Nespresso coffee machine, washing machine, dishwasher, fridge with freezer compartment. Or simply retire to the super king bed with its crisp white cotton bed linen. As an alternative to the super king bed, we can provide two single beds - this must be arranged at the time of booking. The cottage benefits from underfloor heating throughout the ground floor, making it warm and snug during the winter. Enjoy a morning coffee or a glass of something in the private part walled garden with patio and southerly aspect.

Living next door, we will happily help if needed. Otherwise guests are left to their privacy.

The cottage is situated in the small village of Sandhurst in the beautiful Kent countryside, we are a mile from the East Sussex border and the village of Bodiam which is home to the famous moated Bodiam Castle. We have a footpath that leads directly from our property, through the fields, along the river to the castle (about an hour for a leisurely walk).

Other National Trust properties to visit nearby are:

Sissinghurst Castle – 7.5 miles Batemans - 11 miles

Smallhythe Place – 9.5 miles Scotney Castle – 10 miles

Great Dixter House and Gardens is only 4.5 miles away in Northiam and the lovely town of Battle with its Abbey ruins is 10.5 miles away, these are both well worth a visit.

If you are feeling active and would like to kayak along the River Rother, visit Bodiam Boating and Lime Wharf Cafe to hire a kayak. You can also take the ferry from here if you prefer a more leisurely journey along the river to Bodiam Castle. Bedgebury National Pinetum (7.5 miles) is excellent for walking and mountain biking, if that doesn't work for you, there is also a Go Ape activity centre. The beautiful Bewl Water is 10 miles and very close to Scotney Castle.

The bustling towns of Tenterden and Cranbrook are only 8 miles and 6 miles respectively. We adore the cobbled streets of Rye (11 miles), which a lovely place to spend the morning browsing the boutique shops and perhaps staying for lunch or a cream tea. This can be combined with a visit to the beautiful long white sandy beaches at Camber Sands.

Battle is also a lovely town just across the East Sussex border. Kent & East Sussex Railway is situated in Tenterden. It runs between Tenterden and Bodiam, stopping in Northiam, which is near to the Bodiam Boating station. Wine lovers... can visit Chapel Down, Oxney Organic Estate, Biddenden, Sedlescome Organic and Hush Heath - all within 11 miles Shoppin
