From the owner

Originally a mill workers cottage, 34 Water Lane is a delightful three storey, two bedroom, grade II listed cottage set in the hillside in the pretty historic village of Cromford. The cottage has many original features, including grit stone fire surrounds in the lounge and each of the two bedrooms, beams and exposed stone walls. The cottage is beautifully decorated and furnished throughout in blues, greys and beiges - with water themed decorative finishes. The lounge offers the opportunity to relax on one of its two two seater settees. Watch TV or a DVD leisurely - or just enjoy relaxing whilst you savour the ambience! A selection of games, books and DVD's are provided to assist in your endeavours. However, should you wish to 'touch base' with your on-line friends, wifi facilities are available at the cottage. A log burner provides warmth and cosiness for winter nights.

A downstairs cloakroom with toilet and washbasin also offers space to store coats and shoes.

Each of the two bedrooms are both cosy yet luxurious - a grey colour scheme for the first floor bedroom and amber for the second floor bedroom.

The kitchen is fully equipped with a fridge with freezer box, electric cooker/hob and a dishwasher. A table and four chairs allows for comfortable dining.

The cottage is built into the hillside and steep stone steps lead to two small terraces - with great views over Cromford afforded by the upper level terrace.

Please note: the cottage retains the original staircase which gives access to the first and second floors. This staircase is quite steep and may present a challenge for those who have difficulty walking. Being built into the hillside - the stone steps to the rear of the property may present a similar challenge for those who experience difficulty walking.

Response from the owner
Hello Thank you so very much for taking the time to write such a comprehensive review following your stay at my property. I'm so glad you enjoyed your week. I tried to make the cottage as homely as possible - and provide the sort of things I would like to find in a holiday cottage, so I'm glad to hear you liked it. Regarding the shower gel - I've actually now changed the provision to larger quantities located in the shower room. Partly as a result of your feedback but also for environmental factors. Regarding provision of shampoo - oddly enough I used to provide it but guests very rarely used it so decided it was a bit of a waste. Thanks also for your comments regarding noise. Unfortunately as the cottage is Grade II listed, I'm not able to have double glazing fitted. However, I have had secondary glazing installed and with that plus the venetian blinds and curtains, I had hoped that any noise from traffic would be minimal. I am a very light sleeper and it hasn't disturbed my sleep when I've stayed there, but I accept that if you are used to a particularly quiet environment, it may have been a concern, so sorry if it disturbed your sleep. Thanks once again for booking my cottage and for taking the time to write such a lovely review - I really do appreciate any feedback guests can provide. Kind regards Chris
