La Chartreuse du Maine and our passion for the genuine beauty of the Dordogne will make your stay a truly memorable Perigordine experience.

Constructed during the reign of King Louis XIV, Le Maine is an 18th-century Chartreuse set in a beautiful countryside at the edge of the authentic village of Cubjac. At Le Maine, in harmony with nature, everything breathes peace, serenity, and happiness of life, you will enjoy simple 'art de vivre' in a confidential property run by locals!

The estate is situated in an estate of abundance and generosity : 63 acres of gardens, terraces, meadows, and woods with plenty of walking trails to explore the surrounding nature. Within 5 minutes walk you will find local shops, a café and even a weekly market in the village.

The swimming pool is in the middle of a meadow filled with wild flowers and offers magnificent views of the hills in the distance. The openness of the area allows the pool deck to benefit from sunlight from dawn to dusk making it an ideal spot to relax.

In this romantic setting the manor house and holiday homes frame the large landscaped courtyard. Each house benefits from complete independence, and has its own private garden with furniture to enjoy a coffee, a meal, or a quiet moment with good book.

If you can tear yourself away from Le Maine, its unique location in the centre of the Dordogne region makes it the ideal base for getting to know all the area has to offer the visitor.

In every house there is a stereo, a DVD player and an HDTV that receives a satellite signal for stations in English, German and Spanish as well as French.

Beds and bedding are all new and of the highest quality, made with finest linen.

The kitchens are fully equipped with all the appliances, utensils and tableware you will need to prepare gourmet "Perigordine" meals.

They all have a private garden with dining furniture, lounge chairs and outdoor grill.

- A pasture where Zebulon the donkey and Rothschild the sheep are happy to socialize with (not only) children
- A meadow on the Auvezere river banks ideal for fishing
- Bicycles for adults are at your disposal at the property

The large swimming pool is to be shared with a maximum of 8 other guests. It has

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Catherine (the owner) a message.

If Catherine (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
