Chez Colette et Mimi is the converted barn of La Chartreuse du Maine, and the largest of the three vacation homes situated around the chateau.
We, Catherine and Maxence, live permanently on site and are more than happy to welcome you to Le Maine, our family home for four generations. With us discover another Dordogne than the one on the holiday brochures. Our passion and local knowledge will allow you an intimate, authentic and unforgettable taste of the real Périgord.
The spacious South-East facing terrace of "Chez Colette et Mimi" has a table and chairs, inviting lazy breakfasts in the sun and evening gatherings around a bottle of Bordeaux. The terrace overlooks the house's private garden with its sweeping view of the hills and forests opposite.
Once inside, the contemporary interior design contrasts with the exposed stone walls and 300 year old carpentry, a juxtaposition which gives the house much of its abundant charm. Sophisticated modern furnishings enhance the honest simplicity of the ancient architecture, and touches of bold color highlight the exquisite patina of the walls, faded by the centuries.
Downstairs the master bedroom is painted with soothing lime wash in pale tones. The windows of both the bedroom and ensuite bathroom with its claw-foot bathtub/shower open onto the interior courtyard of the Chartreuse. Upstairs, the large bedroom and modern shower room have vaulted ceilings and impressive original beam-work. The King-size bed can be separated into twin singles on request.
The two ensuite master bedrooms, one downstairs and one upstairs, give each other total privacy, making Chez Colette et Mimi ideal for groups of 2 couples traveling together or families with teenagers. Then you will appreciate relaxing together around the open fireplace in the spacious sitting room, gathering in the comfortably furnished dining room, and preparing gourmet Périgordine meals in the sophisticated Burgundy kitchen.

Chez Colette et Mimi has a very comfortable under-floor heating downstairs and large radiators upstairs.
In Summer at ground level the heated floor is reversible and becomes a cooling floor. There is air conditioning in the bedroom upstairs.
In the living space there is an HDTV that receives a satellite signal for stations in English, German and Spanish as well as French.
The kitchen is fully equipped with high-end appliances, utensils and tableware you will need to prepare gourmet "Perigordine" meals.
The two bedrooms' king beds are brand-new and made with Anne de Solene satin sheets.
The king-size bed in the upstairs bedroom can be separated into twin singles.
On request, we can add a single bed in the upstairs bedroom. 60 € will be charged, bed linen, bath towels and pool towels are included in this rate.

The terrace has dining furniture, lounge chairs and Weber outdoor grill. In addition the estate offers you private woods with many footpaths to enjoy walking, footing, bird and wild life watching, a kitchen garden with rose-trees on ancient arches and lavender bed. You are welcome to pick herbs for cooking, a pasture where Zebulon the donkey is happy to socialize with (not only) children, a meadow on the Auvezere river banks ideal for fishing. Bicycles for adults are at your disposal at the property. One is equipped with a baby seat. The large swimming pool is to be shared with a maximum of 6 other guests. It has a large teak deck with lounge chairs and parasols, modern chlorine-free purifying system (slightly salt water not aggressive for eyes and skin), an automated security cover to protect non swimming children. The pool is located some 80 meters away from the houses, so as children can play without disturbing nap enthusiasts!
