From the owner

Somerley, is a delightful spacious cottage located in Nelson Street, a quiet road in Deal's historic conservation area and is a few minutes walk from the sea and the centre of Deal. The lively town has a good range of shops from high street staples to intriguing individual stores as well as exciting restaurants. There are several antique shops as well as a vibrant Saturday market. The beach is rarely busy and is a wonderful place to spend time for adults and children alike. The pier is great for fishing or a blustery stroll and there is a restaurant at the end, brunch with a view! The cottage is a short drive from excellent golf courses and the bus and train stations are both within very easy walking distance. London and Canterbury are within easy reach by road and rail and Deal is conveniently located for day trips to France.

The house was built in the early 1800's and retains much of its original character. The sitting room and dining room have wood panelled walls and attractive gas fires. There is comfortable seating and a smart T.V. Guests are welcome to use the books and games in the house. There is a games room in the cellar and many toys and games for children.The private courtyard is a lovely sheltered space to enjoy sitting outside with a drink. The kitchen is extremely well equipped with everything you might need for your visit. Wi fi is freely available.

Due to the age of the cottage the ceilings in the kitchen, bathroom and cellar are lower than usual.

Our home is in a residential street with a mix of residents who like to enjoy a peaceful life.
The cellar has steep stairs which can be closed off by the door.
Young children will need to be supervised.

We are so pleased our guests enjoyed their stay at our house, we really do try to ensure that they are comfortable at the house and have everything they need. Parking is not really a problem when staying at the house as if there is not space in our street there are usually spaces close by and there is a large public car park at the end of the next road.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Wendy (the owner) a message.

If Wendy (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
