Dingwall, said to be the Viking capital of Scotland and home to the real Macbeth, has much to offer. Protected by mountains we enjoy a warmer, dryer climate than most of Scotland and the mountains also provide gorgeous scenery. A common sight in winter is sun, snow and a rainbow all rolled into one breath-taking view.
The Sheriffs Lodge is perfectly situated within easy walking distance of the town centre, the canal, the beautiful open countryside and stunning views of the Cromarty Firth. With the station just next door (only quiet, slow trains come into Dingwall) you really can enjoy all the Scottish Highlands have to offer – especially a dream for walkers.
Built in the 1840's and designed by Thomas Brown II, the Court has heard many cases in a long colourful history and retained its original use until 2015 when its doors were closed. Empty for 18 months, we were delighted to finally find our dream home in these old walls.
Part of the courthouse building, the Sheriffs Lodge has now been renovated and converted into a perfect holiday let apartment, retaining its character while offering all modern comforts. The warm fire adds a cosy feel to the lounge-diner with a flat screen tv and dvd player with a selection of dvd's. You really can relax and put your feet up. The main bedroom has a comfy double bed and plenty of room for a travel cot (available on request). The second bedroom has two single beds suitable for both children and adults. A bright modern kitchen is fully equipped with an electric oven and hob with extractor, a microwave, fridge, washing machine and dishwasher. A separate toilet and shower room makes getting everyone out the door that little bit easier.
After six years holiday letting experience in South East England, we know what visitors want and expect from a welcoming holiday home, and we think you will agree this lovely building offers it all.
Having first visited Scotland for a holiday in 2012 we were captivated by its beauty and its friendly people. It has taken us five years - but we can finally call this beautiful part of the world our home. Come and see what made us fall in love with it. ❤️
