From the owner

With the dramatic views of the southern coast, mountain ranges all the way down to the Osa Peninsula, and the famous Whales Tail in Uvita, what else could we have named this Villa? From the private front porch you can enjoy this view and watch the sun come up over the misty mountains while enjoying a fresh cup of Costa Rican coffee. You can also enjoy the view from the comfortable queen size bed. In the evening the reflections in the clouds and on the mountains of our dramatic sunsets, are the perfect place to reflect on the day. There is also a north facing place on the property for watching the sunset directly if you so choose. The pool is shared with 1 other small rental casa on the property & the owners in the main house. You can see the other Casa on Trip Adviser Property #657789 which can be rented if you need more space or decide to invite family or friends along.

The Villa has a fully equipped kitchenette including coffee maker, blender, convection oven, microwave, two burner electric cooker, pots and pans, dishes and cutlery. Laundry facilities are available for a $5 fee per load. A/C for nighttime use at a minimum temperature setting of 75 degrees is included in the rate. Should you wish to run it during the day also there is an additional $10 per day charge due to the extremely high cost of electricity in CR. Most people don't find it necessary at this altitude with our breezes but we allow you to tailor your stay as you wish without charging all our guests a higher base rate for the unused services.

The owners live on the property and are happy to help with any questions, setting up day trips, tips on what to do and what not to do, etc.

To begin with, my statement about carrying bags was not “I don’t do bags” but rather “I’m sorry but I can’t help you carry them because I have a bad back.” However your perception of my words set the tone for your entire stay. For another example, I encouraged you to try streaming a movie & we were very pleased to discover that it worked well for you! Also, we feel it's common sense to read the "fine print" when booking a house in a sparsely populated area of a foreign country. That said, we endeavor to provide great customer service but we are renting a house, we’re not a hotel. We do our best to provide a clean, well-functioning house for our guests. When this unexpected problem surfaced we did all we could possibly do ourselves to rectify the situation while reaching out to plumbers which are very scarce in this area. We found two, the second of which was able to correct the problem. In the meantime we offered to move you to another small house on our property on which we receive wonderful reviews, but you felt it wasn’t suitable for you. We also offered you use of the bathroom there which apparently you found offensive. At this point there were no other options remaining to us but to await a repair. Unfortunately, our entire neighborhood lost their water supply due to a pump failure which took a couple days to resolve while we waited for a technician to arrive from San Jose (3 hours away) with the replacement. No fun for anyone but not something we planned. Sometimes these things just happen. Life truly is more challenging here with few services & conveniences and therefore not for those who require them. It IS a jungle out here! Regarding the comment on the condo being the same price, I happen to know that they normally charge almost double our rates. I'm sure this was an accommodation considering they're trying to sell you real estate! Our realtor did the same for us in the same complex. We were happy to refund your money as requested. We’re sorry this property didn’t work out better for you but are glad you found a condominium in a complex that was better suited to your needs.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I cancel my booking?

Go to Manage your holiday booking to cancel your booking. Here you can view your cancellation policy to see if you’ll be refunded.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Diane (the owner) a message.

If Diane (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
