Come and visit a house full of history.

A stunning and quirky - meaning a little wonky at places - medieval timber framed home, originally build in 1468 for Sir Wyllyam Taylor, then Sheriff of London (later Lord Mayor of London). It is said the house had the proportions and ceiling heights (12 foot) of a 'fine London house'.

The building also has Jacobean wall paintings which were re-discovered in the 1960s.

For a long time it was used as an inn called 'The Griffin' until it became an antiques furniture sales room. The settings are certainly right for that.

However recently it turned back to be a home with a bit of 'character'!

The house today has on the ground floor a lovely kitchen diner which can seat up to 10 people, a big lounge with space for at least 6-10 people, another smaller lounge for at least 4 people. Both lounges offer TVs with free satellite reception and DVD players.

Also on the ground floor is a utility room with dish washer, washing machine, tumble dryer and an additional sink together with the downstairs toilet shower room.

On the way to the first floor is a door to a little hide-away with two chairs - ideal for the ones amongst you who want to excape the hustle and bustle around you.

On the first floor is a very big master bedroom with a four poster bed, another good size double bedroom , a smaller room with two single beds and a landing with more sitting space.

The attic comprises of 2 smaller bedrooms with two single beds each.

On the first floor is a luxurious bathroom with a free standing bath and a huge walk-in shower, all recently installed.

There is parking for 2 vehicles on site and free parking nearby, plus a small outside seating area with table and chairs.

Why can't I call Kerstin (the owner) before booking?

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Kerstin (the owner) a message.

If Kerstin (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
